No, but are you personally offended when you go to a baseball game and they pitch 3 strike outs?
Just making light- in all seriousness- NO ONE is saying that people shouldn't be offended by a swastika. I would never be so brazen as to dictate what people have a right to beleive.

I think the point of art is to evoke some sort of response whether it be positive or negative. I think that's why artists like Madonna do it in the first place. I don't think she wants to offend as much as she wants us to think.
I have to agree here, although I would much rather the artist tell me their "vision" and let people discuss from there. If nothing else the video which was taken as a joke has inspired some very intersting and intelligent conversation.
Was that the point of the video? I don't know but it is the reality of the video.
Also, someone said that since it was a black man who was in the video why should people be offended? Again, I posted about this earlier. Just because a black man calls another black man the "n word" does that mean that NO OTHER black man can EVER be upset or offended at its use? I think NOT!

I once hired a girl to be my assistant. NO KIDDING her initals were K K K I am NOT kidding. She was young and looking for her first job. After a while of working together I felt close enough with her to ask her about it. She stated, as we all know, she had no part in her naming but now that she was entering hte professional world, she was so mortified by it and would it meant to people that she was changing her name legally.

I didn't see it, but from the description of it, I think it was inappropriate to post it on this site.
a lot of vendors pay a lot to advertise on here. this isn't little green footballs where controversy reigns supreme.

Oh, yes- I agree that Ron and the ladies prob took it down becaus eof the potential for offense- totally understandable.
Deb- for me, art is about interpretation- my favorite thing about enjoying a painting or a sculpture, is trying to figure out what the artist was thinking.
It's not so much the actual visual appeal.

I asked Jess which post she had pulled and in order to answer my question she posted it again.
she could have FM'd it to you
whatever... this is silly. the bottom line is that this is Ron's site and what he says goes. if someone doesn't like it, too bad

I don't mean to speak for DebG, but what I got from her position is that people must appreciate that, despite their intent, certain things WILL be perceived as offensive. Sure, go ahead and create the art anyway (IMHO), but don't act all surprised when people actually DO get offended.
At least that's my takeaway... Maybe DebG meant something else.

just because you ASSUME it is going to get heated doesnt mean it actually is.
