High fevers. 105

So DD has been sick since Thursday.

Started day #1 low grade fever. Acting fine. Slight cough.
Day #2. Temp increase and ran 100-102. Bad cough. Took her to dr and rapid strep negative, flu negative.

Day #3 today- 7am temp 105!!! I freaked. It's her highest fever ever. Bad cough and congestion, tired
Took her back to the dr. I insisted on a fingerstick and labs were normal. Pediatrician says still viral "flu like illness.".

My question. Anyone else going through this. ?

The only time my DD has a fever that high she had pneumonia. It came on really suddenly. on a Wednesday I took her the ped for a cough and her lungs were clear. Less than 24 hours later her fever was at 105 and she was really lethargic. too her to PM pediatrics and they xrayed her and confirmed pneumonia.

The pediatrician said not all pneumonias can bee picked up by listening to lungs so he agreed to check her blood counts and they were normal. I'm so worried. Right now I have temp down. It's 100.
How did your son run?

He said since Monday would be day #5 if fever still up I have to take her for chest xry

DS has something similar but he only went up to 103.5 - but we were rotating tylenol and motrin. It's a virus going around. He got it Tuesday and it ended Friday.

High fevers. 105

DD is/was going through this. Thankfully I think the fever FINALLY broke. Thursday fever 102-103 tired, slept, didn't want to eat. Ped said viral. Yesterday fever a little better but still feverish all day. Today acting fine but fever until about 3 hours ago. If it's viral the ped said you have to ride it out. I only did Tylenol a few times.

No experience with this but just wanted to give you Chat Icon

That must be scary! I have never experienced this with my DD, so I don't have any input.

Sounds viral based on the high temp. I hope she gets better soon.

My dd is just getting over this. Her throat was so raw but no strep. She was sick from last sat and just started feeling better and sleeping again last night. Nothing was helping her. Once the fever broke it morphed into a cold and cough. She just started eating again and drinking milk. I used a vaporizer and put Vicks on her feet with socks at night to help her sleep and breathe. Hope your little one starts feeling better too. We also had blood work done and revealed nothing so they just said viral.

Re: High fevers. 105

My triplets just got over this about a week ago. All 3 of them had extremely high fevers (104-105) for 3-4 days. They were cranky, tired, not themselves at all. We took them to the doctors and all tested negative to the flu. The doctor said it was viral with similar flu like symptoms. It was a REALLY tough 2 weeks I am not going to lie. (Of course they didnt all get sick at once, one got sick then 3 days later the next, and then 3 days later the last).
The high fevers definitely were scary. We kept them down with motrin and tylenol. They all had a small cough and congestion with it as well. Sounds exactly like your DD. I hope she feels better soon and you both get some relief!!!

As far as I know, the most definitive way to diagnose pneumonia is via xray imaging. I'd take her to the ER with a fever that high. Like a PP, I had a child with pneumonia and it came out of nowhere. Tuesday it wasnt even in her lungs, Friday she had pneumonia.

My DD had a temp of 104-105 last spring. No other symptoms really. Turned out to be Roseola.

My DD had a high fever for 5 days last week. We were at the peds office 4 different times. My DD doesn't really get high fevers so I was totally freaking out, especially when her temp peaked at 105.4! She was tested for the flu twice and strep, all negative. Poor kid even ended up getting xrays and blood work done. Everything came back clear, no pneumonia or bronchitis. Her only other symptom was a cough and congestion. It was a very rough week though.
Hope your LO is feeling better soon!
