I was so naive and thought it would happen asap

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
i'm hoping it'll only take 3-4 months, but am thinking it may be more around 6 months.
what i'm most worried about is that i've been on the BCP for soooo long, actually had to start taking it to have a regular cycle. now that i'm stopping it, i'm afraid my cycle is going to go all out of whack again.

I remember saying to DH, "you know it could take awhile" but i REALLY didnt think I would be that person. I went off BCP in Jan and i thought by April/May Id be PG. Nope that didnt happen

To be honest I thought it would happen the first month. Even though I *knew* that it takes a while usually, I thought we would be the "lucky" ones. I guess I thought so because my two friends that have babies...you guessed it...got pregnant the first month they tried!

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
Don't get upset but I get pg immediately. I am fortunate to not have that problem. I really do understand what a blessing it is. However, they don't stick and that's not such a bad thing either. They do tests to find out why it dosent' stick and it dosen't cost thousands of dollars to fix like IVF.
I do for everyone TTC naturally or using IVF. I know that some women have it so hard and it truly breaks my heart. Sometimes I just wish I had a magic wand and I could wave it over bellies and POOF - preggo.
Experts say that a normal couple can take up to a year TTC. I know everyone would preferre the beginning of the year but I know for me- i'll take it any way I can get it!

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
I figured due to my age, it may take a while, but no longer than 6 months. Instead it took 2 years and invasive fertility treatments. I will never be able to get pregnant on my own without invasive means.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
Before we started, I literally thought I would get pregnant the first month without a problem.
After that month, I figured 6 months at the ABSOLUTE MAX!
Now, 11 months later, I'm done guessing. It'll happen when it happens.

I have regular cycles so I thought that it would happen right away 1-2 months. We are now going into our 4th month and hoping and praying this is our month.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
I thought it would take about 3-4 months - I was VERY surprised that I got pregnant the first month we tried. What I didn't expect was to miscarry at 11 weeks and essentially be back to the beginning It's now 6 months on and we're still trying - so it's been 9 months since we began trying. That seems like a such a long time to me now.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
I knew it probably wouldn't happen right away, but I was expecting within 6 months. I never thought infertilty would be something I would experience. It took almost two years.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
This is about our 3rd week of trying and I got the all clear from my ob/gyn so hopefully it wont take more than 2 months we are going w/ the mellow approach and I am trying not to think about it too much, I did tell my doc I don't want to try for more than 6 months w/out moving onto some kind of help.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
I remember telling DH "It could happen immediately or it could take some time" but ultimately i had in my head 6 months tops (based on my family history..my mom conceived my brother & I the first month).
Unfortunately we didn't know we would be dealing with Male IF issues...So we are at the 15 month mark now...

I thought it would take at least 6 months. It took my mom 2 years to get pregnant with me.
However, surprisingly we got pregnant on our first cycle.

Re: When you first started TTC how long did you really think it would take?
I have had hormone imbalances so I thought it might take a year or more to get pregnant... Ended up that we actually got pregnant on our very first try BUT it was not a viable pregnancy. I found it was ectopic at 7 weeks (although thought I was miscarrying at 6 weeks) and ended up needing a tube removed. So, I am now concerned a little less about actually getting pregnant... My biggest concern now is actually carrying a pregnancy to term. Although, I should probably also worry about getting pregnant also, since I now have one less tube!
We are not going to TTC again until after my appointment with an infertility specialist/RE next month. I want to have as many tests done as possible to avoid losing my other tube or experiencing another situation like I've just experienced. I am hoping they can give me answers and help me achieve a healthy pregnancy.
