i not only live in area but i had to live in a trailer for 8 months due to the house and i was very poed about what he said..... right of speach or not HE WAS WRONG. the only time i see any trailers in the area is because of a house fire or like what happen to me.... i actually spoke to steve this morning and he could not believe it. also kate browning is taking action ... i can not stand randy and i hope he gets what he deserves. i live is a great neighborhood

I stopped listening to that show a long time ago. They are just too annoying so early in the morning - all of them.
I miss Steve and Maria! I listened to them for years!!!
steve is on 101.7 the beach and maria went back to florida

I have no clue who this radio DJ is... but these are just words. If people don't like, turn the station off.
I don't understand how people can take something stupid that a stranger said, to heart.
They're generalizations, sometimes they're true... sometimes they're not.
It gets dangerous when we start censoring EVERYTHING for fear of offending. He didn't say anything HATEFUL. It's not like he said 'hey lets go into Mastic and kill everyone'

I've heard worse come out of the mouths of comedians so I don't really see the big deal. I lived in Mastic Beach years ago when I first moved here from out of state and I'm certainly not offended. While there are some nice homes and very nice people living there, the sex offenders, crime and gangs outweigh those good things. Until the area is cleaned up, it will continue to get a bad reputation.

no he did not say it but he HONESTLY feels this way about this area. he hates coming to this area. this is not the only hurtful or demining thing he has said and he just goes over board way to much. i personally did not hear the comment . i heard a email on another station that a listener sent in about it. my daughter who did hear it was VERY upset about what he said. yeah it's just words but words do hurt exspecially when they come from a dumb jerk who has no clue how nice it is where i live. yeah every place has it's bad parts but 85% of this area is alot better then what it use to be. i know i take pride in the place i live

then don't let it bother you. you just said he's a a dumb jerk who has no clue how nice it is where i live.
a big lesson I am teaching my son is to LAUGH at yourself. If someone is teasing you or making fun of you... they're doing it because of their own insecurity... You know who you are.
With regards to this situation.. it's ENTERTAINMENT. (may not be your or my cup of tea) He's not a news source, he's not your senator, he's not a teacher at a local high school. He's just some dumb radio jock.
I can understand the frustration of parents whose children have been *affected* by this, but this is LIFE. Sometimes people say things we dont agree with. Take it as an opportunity to talk to your daughter about ignorance.

I couldn't agree with this more. Just like Don Imus shouldn't have been fired for what he said, Randy should not be fired either.
People chose to listen to the station, that is what our freedom is all about. If enough people didn't like him, their rating would drop and they would let him go because he wasn't doing his job. That's the ONLY reason he should be fired.

This whole thing is ridiculous. If jokes about people, areas, etc were censored, we'd have very little comedy. I'm a blonde. Should I be offended and try to have fired everyone who makes a joke about blondes being dumb or loose? No. Do I take it to heart? No, I laugh at it. Maybe he should have apologized for offending anyone, but I think suspending him is a little extreme.

He is an azz. I never liked him and have heard him make stupid comments before. This is why I no longer listen to that radio station.
I think him being fired over this is a little harsh. Even if he aplogizes, does it really matter? Just don't listen anymore. That gets the message across, because I am sure after this, their listeners will decrease, and something will be done. I am actually suprised that he is still on there, because everyone I know no longer listens and can't stand his voice.
He has probably never even been to Mastic to even know what he is talking about anyway.

ITA. It is kind of their purpose in life to cause a stir & tick people off.
I will say though that why he would do that to someone who is winning a contest is beyond me. Whomever is sponsoring that contest is probably threatening to pull their support and advertising.

I can't even believe Kate Browning would get involved in this, of all the petty things to care about, she should be focusing more on improving the lives of the residents in her district. Work on affordale housing, don't get involved in a silly off the cuff comment of a radio personality.

Why should one be considered worse? Imus put down a football team - Randy put down an entire community - with the trailer park and white trash with no teeth comment. They are both despicable.
