You, and the author, cherry picked a portion of what the quoted person was talking about and totally twisted it.
She was "disturbed" at the WHOLE picture - the expletives about Biden, etc.
Furthermore, this is an extremely slanted article, using the language "left wing" etc.
And now some people on this thread really think people are disturbed by the flag.
I could post a million opinion pieces about the other side.
Critical thinking, people. Let's get some critical thinking here.

What is so disturbing flying the American flag? Why would anyone have an issue with that.

No, I didn't. Again, critical thinking. It was one piece of what she is saying and you have to put it in context.
She was saying that it is disturbing that Trump supporters are attempting to co opt the flag because they are the opposite of patriotic. They support a literal traitor and criminal who incited an insurrection and are now exhibiting cult like behavior in flying around with his flag next to the American flag.
It's a scene any decent American should be disturbed by. Not the flag itself. The bigger picture.
She doesn't understand nuance or critical thinking don't bother.
Oh please. Just another snowflake liberal who can’t move on even after almost 6 months of Trump gone.
Her 15 minutes of fame is probably just about done anyway so she didn’t accomplish what she wanted but just whining like a child.

Liberty and justice for all. That’s what is DOES stand for. You can’t fly that flag and then support voter suppression. Look at Fox News. WOW, people are really out of their minds. Does it matter which party you support, this is our American flag. When I see the American flag, I think of all the people who fought for all our freedoms. I think of all my uncles who fought in WW2, Vietnam, and Korea, who put their lives on their line so we can have our freedoms.
As a HUGE hockey fan, the other night, the lady who sings the National Anthem, lowered her mic and the fans sang the rest of the Anthem. No one sat down, no one took a knee. I LOVED it. That is why I love hockey.
I will display my American flags all over, and if you dont like it, then PI$$ OFF!!!!
I am amazed by the amount of people who correlate a flag with Trump. It makes absolutely NO sense. Trump was in office 4 years. Did they never see flags before that?
I watched that and it was absolutely amazing :)

I’m ok with expecting people to obey traffic laws. Flying flags and having pro-police items doesn’t give one the right to drive like a bully and put others in danger.
Betsy Ross didn’t intend for the flag to be flying at 95 mph on the expressway as Joe with his Punisher sticker races to Walmart, tailgating and cutting people off. That’s not freedom. It’s actually disrespectful to the flag and laws, as well a danger to others on the road.

For me, this has nothing to do with Trump. This was a weird phenomenon even before Trump. Americans are weirdly obsessed with the flag. My BIL is from Ireland, born and raised and came to the US at the age of 22. He always comments on how strange it is to see people's houses and cars decked out with flags all over it.

I do NOT respect the guy that flies 20+ on the back of his truck, car, house , whatever to shove it in people's faces that he "THINKS" he's patriotic when really he's just a Trump fan. Because you never really saw the massive flags on the back of many pick up trucks until the Trump brigades and parades started. It’s like the more flags you flew, the more loyal you were to Trump. And we all know what trump said for.
Yes, Many people had flags on their houses before he was in office. Maybe you even had a flag car magnet the size of an index card.
But the obnoxious flag flying started with Trump. A man who never served, who didn’t have have products MADE in the USA. The flag flying became IN YOUR FACE with him. And often it was alongside the Don’t Tread On Me flag or the Trump/Rambo flag. So yeah, I’m lumping them all together.
And once you toss it to the ground to replace it with a trump flag, then you have just desecrated everything it stands for.
You want to talk division? Assumptions about who flies the flag in this manner aren’t causing division. Hatred for other races, hatred for women, hatred for compassion and equality…. That’s causing division.

Yes. Of course not every Trump supporter does this and like I said in a PP, this obsession with the flag was a thing before 2016. But you can't deny a lot of Trump supporters use the flag as a symbol of patriotism and what they are insinuating is if you are a Democrat you are not patriotic. I also don't stand behind the narrative that Trump supporters are hillbillies with pick up tricks who live in the back hills of Alabama. About 2 weeks before the election, there was a Trump parade going down northern Blvd. Started in Bayside and went through to Manhasset. The cars were covered with American flags, police flags, Trump flags, and people had their windows down screaming "merica". Real classy. Money can't buy it, that's for sure. It completely turned me off and made me embarrassed to be in a country that does crap like that.

I never said that people might have done it now but everyone makes it sound like flags have never been flown, outside homes, businesses and cars before Trump.

I respect the guy who has an American flag waving proudly because of the real meaning for what the flag represents. I do NOT respect the guy that flies 20+ on the back of his truck, car, house , whatever to shove it in people's faces that he "THINKS" he's patriotic when really he's just a Trump fan. It's obnoxious and in my mind it gives off the vibe of a "look at me" ********* follower. You know the one that never had an American flag flying proudly up until Trump made it "cool".
How do you know if this person fought for the country? That they have flown a flag forever at home? That they have followed the fad of putting them on their car, even though I saw it before Trump?
We don’t know everyone who does this but it seems they are being put into one box of horrible people who follow Trump.
THIS is why this country is so divided. All assumptions.
Yea thats it ALL assumptions. You forget that the majority of my family is Republican, they voted for Trump. Not one of them has ever supported the military or waved the American flag outside their home or on their cars and yet Trump becomes President and its a flag flying contest all of a sudden. I know the type of people. There are plenty who do it because it symbolic of their loyalty to Trump and not the lives of those who fought for our freedom and everything that flag really represents.
I never said that people might have done it now but everyone makes it sound like flags have never been flown, outside homes, businesses and cars before Trump.
And I NEVER said people didn't fly flags prior to Trump. Not really sure where you are trying to go with all of this. Yes I find ANYONE who has multiple flags on their car, house, bike, whatever to be obnoxious. What exactly is your point? What exactly do you want me to say? I will never change my mind on it. I find anyone who is OVERLY obsessed and in your face about anything to be obnoxious. Just so happens that millions of Trump supporters fall into that category.

To each his own. I have no intention of doing that even though for Memorial Day and Labor Day I do have a ton of little flags in my landscape.
Just odd that people would have a problem with the American flag and people proud of their country.

Yes. Of course not every Trump supporter does this and like I said in a PP, this obsession with the flag was a thing before 2016. But you can't deny a lot of Trump supporters use the flag as a symbol of patriotism and what they are insinuating is if you are a Democrat you are not patriotic. I also don't stand behind the narrative that Trump supporters are hillbillies with pick up tricks who live in the back hills of Alabama. About 2 weeks before the election, there was a Trump parade going down northern Blvd. Started in Bayside and went through to Manhasset. The cars were covered with American flags, police flags, Trump flags, and people had their windows down screaming "merica". Real classy. Money can't buy it, that's for sure. It completely turned me off and made me embarrassed to be in a country that does crap like that.
Screaming “Merica” makes you embarrassed? Wow.
I’m not the poster who said it, but yeah, hearing people say that or seeing gear with it written on it makes me feel second-hand embarrassment for them.
