Now flying the American flag disturbs people
Listen, people can think what they want and believe what they want, but anyone that does not think that Cuomo overstepped his powers as Governor is living under a rock. The North East has the strongest mandates, yet had the most deaths. He forced ridiculous mandates on school that made a majority of the state waste an entire year of education. He hid all the deaths from the nursing homes when it was in his "power" to not have that happen. He is still keeping kids hidden behind masks now when most of the country is free to make the choice. His choices have nothing to do with science, it is just what he feels like when we wakes up in the morning, as an example masks in daycare and then retracted it a day later after he got tremendous heat for it. He may not be a dictator in the dictionary meaning of the word but he is absolutely abusing his power.

Cuomo is an arrogant scumbag and I hope more than anything he is voted out in November 2022. But he is not a dictator. If people think living in NY was SO bad during the last 18 months, I would hate to think what people would do if they lived in Europe. My BIL's family in Ireland wasn't even allowed to travel more than a mile away from their home for months. Could only exercise for 30 minutes a day outdoors. They were true prisoners in their homes.
Also, I don't know people say ONLY Cuomo did this. That's not true. Gavin Newsom in California, Ned Lamont in CT, Phil Murphy in NJ, JD Pritzker in Illinois, among others, all imposed strict restrictions and mandates. It was never just NY.

NY had a high death rate because it was the epicenter early on, we were still learning how quickly this spread, and hospitals were overwhelmed.
States with similarly large, densely packed cities had a similar phenomenon going on.
You simply can't compare the spread in states with cities like NY, LA, Chicago to the spread in, say, South Dakota.
If the states that you want to knock had the typical Republican Abbott like governors who care nothing for the welfare of citizens and only for the enrichment of their friends and cronies, I don't doubt the spread would have been much worse in states like NY.
I don't agree with everything Cuomo has done - much of it was inconsistent and illogical - but if you don't see that the strict measures enacted early on along with our relatively high vaccination rate helped get us to the great place we are today then you are allowing your hatred of Cuomo to blind you to the facts of the situation.

I agree. It could have been SO much worse in NY. The fact that the 3 neighboring governors were all on board so people didn’t cross lines for a hamburger…that helped too.

Coumo killed many of these people when he sent them back to the nursing homes. He had places that could have taken them like the ship and the Javitts center but they quietly closed up after they had no patients.
Other states opened up much quicker and didn’t have spikes.
Talk to people from other states and you will see what has really gone on. Talk to doctors and nurses, ones that will tell you the truth.
I never had any hatred for Coumo but what he is doing to children now is just totally ridiculous and I am shocked that so many parents are fine with it. I do know many are fighting back but I doubt you are one of them.

I agree. It could have been SO much worse in NY. The fact that the 3 neighboring governors were all on board so people didn’t cross lines for a hamburger…that helped too.
CT opened up things sooner than NY as I know many who needed to get out and went there for dinner and entertainment.

I actually don't hate Cuomo. I think he did very well at the beginning of the pandemic. I think that because he did do so well and had so much of the world watching what NY would do that he got a god complex. I had absolutely no issues with what he did at the beginning of the pandemic but we are now 15 months later and he just lifted his restrictions. We have been in a good place for a while and there is no excuse for him waiting so long to lift mandates, and still keeping them in tact for schools.
