I don't think it's so much being the same as everywhere else. It's the vitriol for anyone who doesn't believe in saying the pledge or who doesn't want to sing the national anthem with their hand over their heart. To me, the pledge is cult like.
I was even on some virtual meetings (not for work) where someone would whip out a small flag like the kind a kid would wave at a parade and we were asked to stand up and recite the pledge.. while virtual.

How is this out of the ordinary though at any PTA or BOE meeting and school event?

Please don't compare reciting something to actions that were taken early in the pandemic to save lives. I don't care about the pledge either way. But some people are very strongly against it and so they have the right to not say it. Not everyone in this country even believes in God. I do, but I am not going to force that belief on others.

Early in the pandemic? People are JUST getting together with family as they were TOLD they can after 15 months.

People have been gathering since last summer. But ok. Say the pledge until your hearts content. Like I said, I DO say the pledge, every single morning at work. But I WANT to. Nobody should HAVE to say something that has the word God in it if they don't believe in God.

I get the god thing since many believe in other forms and maybe not at all but the rest, no.
I have to tell you that I know people, my own family included, who would not get together with friends and family and just this month we will. I find it crazy as I have seen other family and friends for over a year but there are many who won’t move a step until they are told they can.

Because the very people who have been saying for the last 6 months that COVID is over and everyone has to let it go are the same people who are obsessed with it. I'm one of the people who took the pandemic pretty seriously, though I have loosened up the last two months or so- and I do not think about or talk about covid nearly as much as these people who are completely enamoured with it.

In NY it definitely is and was.
NY is not a dictatorship. Cuomo can't be compared to Adolph Hitler or Joseph Stalin. I know you went to college but you're still pretty stupid. Cuomo is an idiot and did a lot of things we didn't like, but he is nowhere near a dictator. It was a mask. That you don't even have to wear anymore. You can even go party at the boardy barn now. Get over it. You are so obsessed with covid and masks it's downright psycho. Stop thinking about it and talking about it 24/7.

I’ll pass on the boardy barn, thanks. Lol. I have been out to other places in the last month that no one had to wear a mask and it has been wonderful. Packed places that feels like 2019 again :)

I guess I just don't see the similarities between trying to save lives during a pandemic and a dictatorship. Maybe that's why I don't get how this is similar at all.
That's because there aren't any. And the people who claim that the mask mandates are dictatorial have no idea what real oppression or dictatorship entails.

NY is not a dictatorship. Cuomo can't be compared to Adolph Hitler or Joseph Stalin. I know you went to college but you're still pretty stupid. Cuomo is an idiot and did a lot of things we didn't like, but he is nowhere near a dictator. It was a mask. That you don't even have to wear anymore. You can even go party at the boardy barn now. Get over it. You are so obsessed with covid and masks it's downright psycho. Stop thinking about it and talking about it 24/7.

We went to dinner last night and it was so overly crowded.....one thing I will definitely miss about social distancing
You mean for the wait to get in? I don’t like overly crowded places either and I actually avoided the dance floor last night as while it doesn’t scare me to be that close to so many people, it is the annoying drinks you have to deal with.
