If someone bothers you here on LIF...
Do you FM them to discuss, let it go, or get snarky publicly on the boards?

Not that anyone has ever bothered me on LIF' in that way, but if I felt there was a misunderstanding I FM and clear it right up. Sometimes the written word can't convey things in the context that it was intended.

depends.
i'm not much of an FM'er.
and usually dont care enough to take it to FM.
but, if i think it was a misunderstanding/miscommunication/something was lost in translation sort of thing, i will.
overall, i'm typically pretty snarky though- so its hard to distinguish.

Let it go. Sometimes people look to push buttons on purpose and I have better things to do than give someone the attention they seek. Unless they are hurtful. There is no need to be purposely hurtful.

I don't usually FM for those situations. Some people will act even more outrageous when they know that there are less people judging them. but lately, I know of some people who have resolved things by FM.

just left it along
got over it
and still hold a grudge over it
(all separate accounts, sounds like a lot but it is less than one per year on the two sites)

I do not know any posters on lif personally therefore I do not get angry or upset at posts, I am just on here to have some fun and learn new things so I don't look seriously into anyones posts, so no neeed to get upset.

I've gone public about something twice.
In one case, I believed the person was a "fake" poster (well, obviously a real person posting but posing as someone who they're not). She had FM'd me out of the blue before being friendly, but saying some pretty inflamatory things about other posters. Publically she was attacking a good friend of mine. When I pointed out it was bs on a thread, she fm'd me something that was completely out of line. The funny thing was the people that rushed to her defense were friendly with the other posters she talked about.
In the other case, the person was FM'ing crap behind the scenes saying nasty bs about what "others" were writing about me, which pretty much turned at to be bs.
I'd rather handle things with the person privately. If I feel it's a misunderstanding, I'd FM the person right away. If I think someone is annoying, I let it go or don't answer their threads.

Hmmmm.. it's rare that someone is snarky to me (which is suprising considering some of the controversial posts I have). There was ONE time when someone REALLY ticked me off and became very obnoxious in the post. I would never bother to FM to hash it out further, but she FM'd me, and proceeded to call me some really derogatory names. I responded that I wasn't going to engage in that kind of immaturity and left it at that.
Otherwise, on the few occasions where it's become "snarky" I won't bother with FMing.

I really don't care, I take everything that is said here(and on other public forums) with a grain of salt. It has been my experience that being online like this gives people the equivalent of beer muscles & people have the nads to say or do stuff they would never do IRL.
Most of those people while popular at first, eventually show their true colors to everyone.
If someone here that I have met in person & consider a friend or acquaintance did something dumb I'd probably FM them.
Other than that, I don't care.
