I agree with you. It's a website..you don't know most, if any, of the people on here..people could just be on here looking to start trouble..people could be lying out of their azzes..who gives an eff really?..there are way more important things to get my blood pressure up about..this place is supposed to be for fun and leisure.

I have seen people say things that I disagree with - or that I find morally/ethically/personally offensive. But I have never had an urge to go toe to toe with someone over it. I don't think I ever have actually 'gotten in someone's face'.
Fact is - people have their opinions and we all know what they say about opinions.
I realize that a good portion of the people who say things will NEVER consider any other opinion - no matter how well it is stated. I hate frustrating myself by getting lured into that kind of obstinacy. Sometimes I will say whatever I feel and not bother to go back.
I DO - however - have friends that I will FM when I see something that someone has written that irritates me or rubs me the wrong way. I know I won't change certain people and their way of thinking - but it is cathartic to chat about it with people that I find to be open minded and open to different thoughts on varying subjects.

Totally depends on the situation.
If someone says something to me on a thread specifically, I will go right back at them on the thread.
If they FM me, then it stays in FM's - I won't ever publicly post about it.
If someone keeps saying something publicly that is just "snarky" or "beating a horse to death" I will say something publicly - and have, and have had many negative FM's about it.
But, I refuse to keep quiet about stuff that I feel adamantly about so I say something.

If someone gets snarky with me, I don't have any problem with telling them what I think on the boards. If they choose to FM, I'll handle it that way. I leave the choice up to them. The only thing require when someone is speaking to me is to do it with a civil tone. Not because I am older than most everyone here, but, simply, because I am another human being. If you want to disagree with me, that's fine. Just do it in the same manner with which you would want to be spoken to. If not, the game is on and I am one sarcastic person who will not think twice about cutting someone down to size. Thankfully, 99.9% of the people on these boards are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of speaking with.

I'm with DebG on this one... totally depends on the person and the situation. I would say that 99% of the time I say what I have to say on the boards or just let it go. But no one has ever really "bothered" me that much on here...

Most of those people while popular at first, eventually show their true colors to everyone.
If someone here that I have met in person & consider a friend or acquaintance did something dumb I'd probably FM them.
Other than that, I don't care.

I *try* to stay away from controversial posts - I don't ususally let things bother me to a point that I feel the need to argue with another poster. To me this is a message board - I use it for enjoyment, advice and to pass time on my work days - other than that - if something really bothered me I would probably let it go.
Hasn't really come up yet, so I'm not sure.

I don't really take enough notice. THere was only one time that I took it to FM and it was on my part.
I wrote something, then after I posted it and read it back, I realized that it may be taken the wrong way. I FMed the person straight away and told them I hope they didn't take me the wrong way. Of course, she didn't so I was thankful for that.

I let it go and let them have the last word. No reason to fight over the boards, I hardly know 'you' and you don't know 'me.' If the conversation were in person instead of over the internet we might be totally cool with each other, even though we disagree strongly with each other's opinions. I see a lot of posts I don't agree with, but I just think to myself, "I don't agree", and then move on.

i used to be a lot different than I am now
i'll occasionally get involved in controversy, but i really stopped caring on the whole because 9 times out of 10, it's the same old debate. Some people feel one way, some people feel another, and we spend 10 pages trying to convince each other that we're right, and nothing ever gets solved. To change someone's opinion is futile.
As for individual issues with people, I've seen it all, and it's not worth it to me anymore. I've handled things on FM, that have leaked to the boards, because people sought fit to do so.
I've tried to handle other misunderstandings via FM, that for one reason or another, the person in question thought they were better than me and didn't feel the need to even dignify my attempt at resolve with a response.
And I've been in situations where you get 2 -3 people that don't like you, that stalk your posts. So, I'll be in the middle of controversy and these SAME people, like CLOCKWORK come out of their holes to attack. The sad part is that I like to think I've done some good - but people only want to focus on the negative.
So, now, I don't really post unless
A. I have something to add
B. I'm bored and I want to stir the pot a bit
C. It's a big thread where alot of opinions are thrown around
