here's a funny story - i was at one of those starbucks where they write your name on the cup. they thought i said my name was "norm" and that was written on my cup!!

People don't necessarily have a problem pronouncing my name, but they do have a problem with changing it. My name is Rebecca, but for as long as I can remember, people think my name is Rachel.
Doesn't matter where I am - from highschool until today, random people just decide to call me Rachel.

yes. My name is SaraH. plain and simple. HA!! People feel the need to add a Y to my name...syrah, like Syrup. Aslo, I get Tara, Farah, Karen every other name expect for mine.

YES! very frequently the name "melissa" turns into martha or michelle. i have learned to accept and love "Michelle" but i will NOT be called Martha, lol.

And of course....no matter how well I say it..I get Gina, Tina, Christina, Dina....just not Nina.

My name is Maureen...pretty straightforward...but NOPE, I live in VA now and so many people pronounce it like "Marine". My husband especially hates that...
he goes "are you in uniform? NO. You are not a Marine. You are MORE-EEN!". Lol.
Alot of people in NY pronounce it like this too

Always- I have been Brian or Brianna my whole life. My name is spelled Brianne and pronounced Bree-ann. SO annoying!

My last name - and my married name is MUCH easier than my maiden last name.
It's very close to yours Lana. I just don't get it.
My first name sometimes - Christine is hard to F up - but people do...Christina? NO. It's Christineeeeeeee.....

I so often get called Melissa instead of Marissa...
I also get Martha when Im on the phone with people (I think its because I talk so fast)
And as far as my maiden name goes... well lets just say Im not even sure of the correct pronunciation

Me too. No one ever could spell my maiden name, pronounce my maiden name or understand what nationality I was from hearing it. A few people knew what kind of name it was but they thought it was a married name bc I don't look the part (Armenian)
My married name is so easy, what a joy after all those years of struggling...people can really really be rude when it comes to a name they don't understand.
Every now and again someone adds an "S" to the end of my married name - not sure why but I am quick to correct them - I guess I have name issues LOL

Yes. I get "Don" instead of "Dawn".
MIL says "Don" and even though we've pointed it out to her, she still does it. 
Never had an issue with LI'ers though.
me too its so annoying (its even worse if you go to California)
I would ask how do you say DON...
ok so how do you say DAWN
and still they say DON!

First name sometimes is mispronounced. Usually just Jane. But what drives me nuts is people misspelling it!! Especially on here- which I find funny since it's my screen name
Both my maiden name and married last name are butchered!!!!
Funny my maiden name is only 5 letters long and my married name is 4 and people still can't get it right- not even my students.

Not so much my first name, but my last name everytime I give it to someone, I get how do you say thet, how do you spell that, what is that?? I would be a very rich woman if I got paid each time someone asked me the above questions.
