Do people mispronounce your name?
I can't tell you how many people call me Lana with a long a, or with some nasal twang! (too much time dancing in Virginia)...over the last few years, I've been saying my name more like Lona, just so people would stop saying it wrong. Most people say it both ways, Lona and Lana (think Lana Turner)--anyway...do people get your name wrong? Maybe it makes me a name snob, but I hate hate hate how people screw it up! LOL!

Not mispronounce, but when I introduce myself as Patricia and they turn around and go "Nice to meet you Pat". What part of my full name did you not understand! Honestly, it's men most of the time.

Re: Do people mispronounce your name?
ok Debbie is pretty straight forward but for some reason when I'm on the phone and someone mishears my name they ALWAYS repeat back Betty This has happened repeatedly over the years. Maybe it's the way i'm saying it?
Anyway....I think I'm slow Lana...do you not pronouce it like Lana Turner? How else would you say it?
and Lauren, the only way I've ever heard your name was like Law-ren is that wrong? and based on your sn I always think Lay-la when I see your posts
I swear I'm being serious. I feel like such a dummy.....

Re: Do people mispronounce your name?
Lana-
We have a LAHNA in our office (pronounced like yours)-- she gets (on a daily basis): Linda, Lorna, LANA (like lana turner w/ the long laaaaa) among others.
I don't know how you do it! It would drive me crazy!
I get my last name mispronounced all the time (my maiden name that is). It is kinda hard to mess up Rella lol

ALL THE TIME!!!
It's Rachelle... pronounced RA-SHELL.
If people read it they say Rachel. When spoken they think I'm sayin Michelle.
IT'S NOT Rachel or Michelle!!
And half the time I feel like a b*itch for having to correct people

Lots of people call me layla - leighla is a combination of my last name and my first name. I don't mind.
Law-ren is how I prefer it to be pronounced.
However LOTS of people call me Loren, like "lure" with an "n" on the end.
I will repeat it back to them as Law-ren, but they don't always hear a difference.

My name is Maureen...pretty straightforward...but NOPE, I live in VA now and so many people pronounce it like "Marine". My husband especially hates that...
he goes "are you in uniform? NO. You are not a Marine. You are MORE-EEN!". Lol.

Re: Do people mispronounce your name?
I'm glad I'm not the only name freak. Truthfully, I was born Lana (like Lavender)...but who knew that along the way I would say Lona just so people said it properly!!! My aunt calls me Lonnie; it sounds so snobbish! LOL!

Yes. I get "Don" instead of "Dawn".
MIL says "Don" and even though we've pointed it out to her, she still does it.
Never had an issue with LI'ers though.

Our last name sounds like a first name so that really throws people for a loop. When I say my name over the phone people think its Martha(its really Melissa)

I always have trouble saying Dawn! I don'' want to say Dawwwn, but then it comes out Don! ( good thing I don't know you IRL)

That's so weird!
My name is easy to pronounce ( Heather), but sometiems I get Kevin. Especially in retaurants, it's noisey & guess they think I am putting the reservation under DH's name.

Re: Do people mispronounce your name?
ALWAYS
First and last
My first name is pretty basic - but people always assume it's spelled wrong, so they say Marla or Margo.
I THINK after 30 years, I've got the spelling of my first name down.
My last name (new and old) is always butchered.
