Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

This is really ridiculous. I'm annoyed that we didn't hear about this sooner. I've been seeing commercials on Fox to let Time Warner customers know that Fox may be dropped------why weren't we given the same notification?

I am calling Cablevision today. Fios is looking better and better!

It's back already. The same thing happened last year when Cablevision was going to drop all Viacom channels. Hubby reminded me of that one.

Not on my TV - I'm getting a message from Cablevision that they tried to negotiate with "Scripps" but couldn't reach an agreement with them.

Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

Admittedly, Verizon's customer service has a cr@p reputation but we've been ok with it so far.

Ever since they slashed all the gardening shows out of the H"G"TV lineup, there are very few shows I watch. But considering you paid for the channel originally, that's total BS that they would remove two of them like that without any kind of recourse.

It's probably in a contract somewhere that they can do it and still charge you full price, but I still call bullsh*t. Chat Icon

Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

I'm not worried about it. They'll have both of them back soon.

And this kind of stuff can happen with Fios too - just because it didn't this year doesn't mean it won't happen ever.

Now they are saying in their official statement that they have no intention of carrying them ever again.

I am giving them one day and then I am switching to FIOS.

Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

This is the statement from Cablevision:

“We are sorry that Scripps’ current financial difficulties are making it impossible for them to continue our relationship on terms that are reasonable for Cablevision and our customers. We wish Scripps well and have no expectation of carrying their programming again, given the dramatic changes in their approach to working with distributors to reach television viewers.”

We've been talking about switching to DirecTV, and if they don't figure this out by Monday, we'll be switching.

Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

It's a load of crap. They want us all to contact Scripps and tell them what we think.

I've dealt with Scripps and they couldn't care less about certain things. It's all bottom line.

Their lawyers are some of the nastiest.

Re: Cablevision dropping HGTV

if this is true, another reason in favor of me pulling the plug on cable. it's too much money and every time i turn around, there is less to watch

i could put the money to better use

Ladies Ladies Ladies....Its not Cablevisions fault. Cablevision Pays Scripps to carry the content they carry. It is Scripps who is the culprit here. They wanted X amount of dollars per subscriber and Cablevision tried to keep X low so its customers don't have to pay more for thier subscription rate.
