Re: Do u have a garbage can in your bathroom?

We do in the guest bath and master bath.

Since no one uses the second bedroom's bath we don't have one in their yet but whenever we use that room we'll buy bath accessories for that bathroom. A garbage is a must!

yes.

it makes me crazy that my MIL doesn't.
it's embarassing to have AF and have to take "stuff" to the kitchen to throw it away there.

Ewwwww, just gross thinking about what someone might throw in there.

how is it gross to put garbage in a garbage can?
What else would you expect to go in there?
And how does it make a difference if its in a bathroom garbage can vs. a kitchen one?

to answer the OP question - yes, i have a garbage can in all my bathrooms and :gasp: we throw all sorts of garbage in them! just as an example - every day we throw out qtips, hair from my comb, tissues, various wrappers, floss, and dh empties his shaver in there too.
That's the point of them..

Re: Do u have a garbage can in your bathroom?

Yes, I have a small one and I put a small bag in it so I can just pull the bag and toss the garbage. I spray it with Lysol every time I change the bag and I wash it out when I clean the bathroom.

No, never have and don't plan on it. Ewwwww, just gross thinking about what someone might throw in there. Toilet paper or tissues can go in the toilet. Qtips, cotton balls, etc I wrap up in a tissue that I then throw out in the main garbage.

so what do your female guests do with their feminine products??Chat Icon carry them out to your main garbage? that is grossChat Icon

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I would think having to carry any used feminine product out of the bathroom is a lot worst and uncomfortable.Chat Icon

Worse yet, what if they don't know what to do with them, so to avoid embarrasment they flush them!

Now you have septic issues to worry about.

I think you'd have to be an idiot to flush a feminine pad down the toilet. When I go somewhere and have AF, I usually take my purse into the bathroom. And so if I used pads, I would wrap them in the plastic pouch they come in and then wrap in paper and then put it in my purse until I could discreetly dispose of it in the garbage downstairs. Who wants a stinky pad festering all day in a garbage can in the small bathroom. Rather have it in the larger bag with all the other stuff. How is carrying it out any more disgusting than throwing it into the small garbage that someone will then have to empty and thus may see what you threw in there? At least in the bigger garbage you just take the whole bag outside, no seeing what's there. To each his own but no garbage in my bathroom now or ever.

I never thought about this. I guess I don't really have females within the menstrual age come over to visitChat Icon

I have a tiny trash can but it's pretty much for decoration.

I think we should ban toilets from the bathroom too.
Those things are GROSS.

My BIL is a plumber--and you'd be shocked to know how many people flush pads down the toilet. Some even flush disposable diapers!!!!!!

I have a bag lining our bathroom garbage can and just tie the bag and dispose of it when needed. I don't see or touch anything in there.

My ILs don't have one in the bathroom on their main floor and it drives me nuts. I don't want to have to trapse through the house with used sanitary products, and to put them in my bag Chat Icon

wow. it never would occur to me NOT to have a garbage in the bathroom. it definitely seems more disgusting to carry around your used pad/tampon than just toss it in a can in the bathroom.

so you think its better to take your "stinky pad" and put it in your purse and walk into the kitchen, where there is FOOD and PEOPLE and sneakily put it in the garbage so now the kitchen can smell like "stinky pad". that is absolutely disgusting

The ones that have storage underneath, I have a small garbage can out of view. For the pedestal sink bathrooms, no.

Re: Do u have a garbage can in your bathroom?

I've never heard of a bathroom without a garbage can. Personally I'd be upset if I was visiting someone's house and had to carry a personal hygiene product into their kitchen for everyone to see. It's not gross. My trashcans are small and I empty them regularly, more than regularly during certain times of the month.

There will always be a garbage in my bathroom. There is a small plastic garbage bag in the pail that I take out whenever the garbage goes out (every other day). I grew up with one also.

OMG...yes. what would you do with all the q-tips, tissues, stuff from Aunt Flo, etc. Chat Icon

however, i have noticed that all my family in Europe (Ireland and Italy) NEVER have trashcans in the bathroom. is it a European thing?
