how long do you intend to keep commuting? I walk 10 blocks and 1 avenue to and from Penn everyday and of course have to deal with the shtshow that is Penn Station and rush hour express trains.

I wonder how long I can keep this up!

I'm having deja vu with this post. lol nothing against you OP but this is the 3rd time today I've had deja vu about something lol.

I don't currently communte into NYC from LI but I have and I know what it's about. I think it really depends on how you feel towards the end. The way I feel today, I'd be ok traveling into NYC. The way I felt yesterday, no way.
I also think it depends on how flexiable your bosses and schedule is. If there ok with you taking your time and getting to work a little later (15min late or so) I'd take that into consideration too.

Can you take a subway from Penn?

I worked up until the day I had DD1 and 2 days before I had DD2 (she was born on a Monday and I worked that Friday) and I take the LIRR and 2 subways to work. It sucks, but not working wasn't an option for me, so I did what I had to do!

Other option is to drive in. It costs a lot, but is a lot less stressful! They often have Icon Parking Groupons, so maybe look for a deal on a monthly.

I made it to 38w 2 days with DS 1 (induced at 40w 4d) and 37w 4days with DS 2 (went into labor at 38w).

I would play it by ear but, also inquire and see if there is a possiblity to work part time from home, especially near the end. I was doing 2 days from home prior to going full time from home as mentioned above.

I did it with DD until I was 39 weeks. It started to get uncomfortable. But even so I would've went until the end only that was Xmas week and my company closed. I ended up being over a week late, but DH was not going to let me commute at 40+ weeks. Fortunately, my manager let me work from home for that last week so I didn't lose any time.

Ladies who commute from LI to Manhattan

I commute between LI and Brooklyn/Atlantic Terminal. With DS#1, I stopped working the week of my actual due date even though I could've easily worked that week being that I felt 100% fine/comfortable, etc... DS just didn't want to come out. I was nervous to be in Brooklyn in case naything did suddenly happen. With this one, I'm going to play it by ear the same way. I have more flexibility to work from home if need be.

Re: Ladies who commute from LI to Manhattan

I don't have anything to add (don't commute to NYC), but I just wanted to commend you and all of the other preggo ladies who commute every day to work!

I went into the city on Friday for my birthday, and took the subway over to the east side to meet DH at his office, and OMG I was huffing and puffing by the time I got to the top of the subway steps, I was sweating all of the place and all I could think about was all of the pregnant women who commute every day...

You guys are rockstars! That is all Chat Icon

Ladies who commute from LI to Manhattan

I commuted from Babylon to midtown until 37wks, 3 days. I was planning to commute until I had DD so I could maximize my time home with her (since my company doesn't allow us to work from home), but I was definitely nervous about commuting so late into my pregnancy. In the end, Sandy hit and they had no choice but to let us work from home, so my boss managed to convince the "big" boss to let me continue working from home until I had DD. I worked up until the day before I had DD (she was born on a Sat), but I honestly don't think I would have made it that long if I had to keep going into the office.

Re: Ladies who commute from LI to Manhattan

I worked 2 days past my due date. Subways, walking, etc., my commute was annoying. I was on here asking the same question a month ago.

However now I wish I worked an extra week because here I am at 41+ weeks pregnant, feeling great physically & wishing I didn't end so early because I just feel like I'm wasting time waiting for the baby to be born & not getting paid. Although there's no way I could have known the baby would be so late. In any event, I suggest working as long as you can comfortably do it.

I plan on commuting up to a week before my due date. If all goes well. I just don't want to use my vacation time by sitting home. Unfortunately my company doesn't allow to work from home.

Re: Ladies who commute from LI to Manhattan

Yesterday was my last day physically going into work, so up until 38w3d (although I take the A train an hour each way from Queens, so not a LIRR commute).
