Ladies who live on LI and commute to NYC
especially downtown...where do you live and what is your commute like? If you had the choice to live in the suburban areas of NYC would you move closer, or do you enjoy where you are and dont mind the commute at all?

I work in midtown and walk from Penn. I coommute is 1 hour and 5 minutes express in the morning. I live in Hauppauge.

I don't like the commute but I like my job, my boss and the $$
I commute to midtown from Bethpage. It takes about 1 hr 10 in the am and 1 hr and 20 minutes in the evening.
I mind it..big time..but there are worse things. I have an excellent oppy to grow with my company and have lots of support. When I have kids they will work out a flex work schedule for me as well.
You have to weigh and measure if it's right for you. I think you should live where you want to live.

I commuted from Smithtown to Union Square for three years. I took the N train, no prob. Then the office moved to 34th and 7th, even better! Eventually, I got a better job on LI. But I used to drive to Huntington everyday. DH does it now....down to Wall.

I don't like commuting one bit, but I love my job. I have about an hour door to door and that's without train problems.

I live in Manhasset and commute to midtown. I have to take a subway when i get off the train. it takes me about 55 minutes door to door. I dont mind it at all....

I've been commuting from the West End of Long Beach to Times Square for about 6 and a half years. I HATE the commute to Long Beach...
I am moving closer (three stops on LIRR) and it will shave about 30 minutes off of my commute in total.
I will be about an hour now...
I can't work on the Island for my business and the $$ is nice.
