Love the first one. I'm thinking of getting one of those types....

Why can't you put outgoing mail in the second one you posted?

because its a "locking" mailbox so there is no way for the mailman to retrieve it..and no flag either..kinda senseless I think

I don't recommend that type. My neighbor has it and the mailman doesn't even put her mail in it because it is very difficult to slip ALL of your mail in that little slot. Magazines, manilla envelopes, etc, don't really fit so easily and if you get a lot of mail, the mailman would be standing there forever slipping each item in (which they will get impatient with).

Plus as she said it locks so the mailman cannot reach in if you like to leave outgoing mail.

i have the second one (but with an eagle on it) and the slot is very big - i get a LOT of magazines and they all fit in it.

I like the locking feature because, well, no one can steal your mail.

and if i want to sent something, i can still stick it in, you just dont put it in the slot you put it in the door

eta I got mine at Fox Hardware in Setauket and it was $150 and they assembled it for me
