It's a shame when both HRC and Obama just gave great remarks and said they hope for his success and willing to work with him and then to read all this stuff here. It's an election and someone wins and someone loses. Respect and unity is key right now to move forward. Find common ground, do something nice for someone and let's keep going. We will be ok.

Agreed. That right there is the classy way of handling it. The responses I am seeing from some of you is horrible.

To say that Trump supporters are all racist white supremacists is kind of ridiculous. And to stereotype that entire group in that way is kind of....ya know....racist.

Honestly, I'm sick and I just can't stop crying.

I'm disgusted by the gloating Trump supporters who don't realize - or maybe they do - that the KKK is cheering right along side you.

Are you proud of that???

I'm not going to start calling the voters uneducated or ignorant, because I know plenty of educated people who voted for him.

She wasn't a great choice, too many people believe the ********... too many people don't actually believe in the American way of government - she was tried and not convicted, therefore she's innocent. Too many people don't believe in the freedom of press. Too many people DON'T believe that all people are created equally. Too many people don't believe in freedom of religion. Too many people don't believe women deserve the right to control their own bodies, to live with their own conscience, to answer to their own God. Many of them are here on this thread, and most will argue that I'm wrong or that I don't know them so I couldn't possibly know what they believe. But I do know that this is the image they portray, and the message they send.

I am so sad today. I'm sad for my children, but I am teaching them about holding your head up, respecting people's differences, accepting our president and praying he does right by the American people. I've explained to them that this country is better than every other country in the world because we change our leaders without violence and discord - and that wasn't done before the United States existed. That Hillary Clinton has shown grace and class in conceding the race last night.

Sure, you want to kick her when she's down for not speaking last night, but honestly, that says more about YOU than her. Maybe she had to cry herself to sleep. Her life ambition has just come to an end... even though she won the popular vote. She didn't contest the election, like our next president threatened to. She conceded gracefully. Hate her all you want, I bet she'll go away now. And I hope to God that Trump doesn't set us back 50 years and sell us out to Russia. Only time will tell.

Well said

I think it speaks volumes that Trump won in demographics that 4 years ago voted for Obama. I watched the election coverage on CBS and they were astonished that demographics that were primarily democratic 4 years ago, switched and voted republican last night. I understand that everyone thinks Trump is a racist but this doesn't show that the nation is largely racist. IMO it's because so many men (not just white men) refuse to be led by a woman.
We live in a blue state and we don't really see how bad the sexism is in other parts of the country.

I respect your opinion. But I think people in those states have a big issue with Hillary not because she is a woman, but because she is untrustworthy. That was the shift. Or the fact that after 8 years with Obama, people are not happy and want a change. I really don't think it's bc she is a woman b/c I think if that were the case, I think those same people would have had an issue with Obama being black 8 years ago.

It needs to be said because it is the sad truth. People that voted for trump voted for xenophobia. They voted for homophobia. They voted for misogyny. They voted for a man who denies global warming and will destroy our already fading environment. They voted to make America white again. We will now have four years under a leader who is impulsive, spiritually bankrupt, racist and completely self serving. These people ARE morons

So basically half the country, or at least the 59 million voters, are racist morons. Interesting. Who knew.

Personally I think Trump tends to be more liberal than people think.

I agree, I think he is more of a Conservative Democrat then a Republican. Its funny how no one had come forward while he was in the public eye to say he is a racist or a sexist. And for someone to say Trump voters voted because they want to make America White again is absurd.

Re: Yes, the people HAVE spoken

I have never once posted on a political thread, especially on here and after reading some of these responses, I know I made the right decision. Some of these responses are so mean and disgusting. At the end of the day, I didn't like Hillary or Trump, I voted for neither. Both had their flaws and I won't get into a pissing contest about who's flaws were worse. These are people running for political gain and for anyone to state that they know "facts" is just a joke IMO. We will never know the truth about either of them, everything is skewed. What I do feel is, we were given 2 really terrible candidates and choosing the less of 2 evil's didn't really appeal to me, and THAT is what is upsetting to me. Are they really the best of the best, to represent the United States of America? We could have done better and we deserved better.

However, Trump is now our President. I don't think that those that voted for him believe that everything he says or may do is perfect, or that they are racist bigots. I think he promised change and that was the appeal to most...something different. I too am nervous but will hope for the best because regardless of the candidate, that's what we should all be hoping for. Let's try to put the claws and nasty comments away ladies, because everyone is entitled to their opinion. No single person will tear apart our country the way that we do, with our constant scrutiny and lack of understanding and compassion for each other.

I'm hoping his true nature shows itself more than what he showed to everyone these past 18 months. If he governs the way he's historically behaved, acted, and spoken before running for Prez, he's going to piss off a lot of people who voted for him, but I think he'll actually have a chance of getting something positive done.

You needed to hide because you believe in hateful stereotyping, elitism, racism, sexism, anti Semitism and white supremacy.

There was just unfortunately more of you than sane and rational people.

So now it's out in the open and it's ok to say it. But you have nothing to be proud of. This is a sad shameful day for our country. I am afraid for our future. And I'm not going to shut up just because there are more of you than us.

Well said. I'm so sad for our country today.

I'm sad for all the people who will loose their health insurance.

For the kids who are in their parents health plans who will now loose that.

For everyone who has a pre existing condition who will no longer be covered.

For the racism that this election brought out and LEGITIMIZED.

For my LGBTQ friends who will be discriminated against because he will make it legal to do so. Think about that. People think their religion and beliefs make it ok to discriminate against people who are gay. If that's your religion maybe you should get a new one. I promise that Jesus would welcome anyone to his table, to his home.

I mourn.

That's exactly my point though. Both candidates were untrustworthy (statistically speaking, Trump lied a lot more than Clinton). Obama beat Hillary in the primaries in 2008 and then went on to beat a white male in both 2008 and 2012. The same demographics that voted for Obama 4 years ago, just voted for Trump. We are not a nation of racists. Sexism seems the more likely culprit.

Clinton got 54% of the womens vote yesterday.
Obama (in 2012) got 55% of the womens vote.

That means that yesterday a lot more men voted Trump over Clinton despite their party affiliations.

I understand that some of that is due to people losing faith and becoming more and more anti-establishment, but they are saying the 2016 gender gap is the largest in about 6 decades. That screams of sexism to me and shows me that Clinton lost a lot of votes just because she is female.

That being said, I wasn't a supporter of either candidate but now that he has won, I will keep and open mind and hope for the best. I have faith that 1 man will not single-handedly destroy our country and way of life.

No one can go to any doctor they want, unless they want to pay privately--only those in their plan.
Good luck with your mom getting any health insurance if the ACA is repealed. Pre-existing conditions will be excluded.

What is he going to do to make things "better"? I still can't get an answer from anyone! Unemployment was at 7.9% when Obama took over. Right now it's at about 4.9%. Median household income went from 55,300 to 56,500. Private Job growth had a similar rise under Obama... so what is so bad??? I'm genuinely curious. I understand Obama care needs help, but what about the part that removed women as a "pre existing condition?!", or the part that took off the lifetime limit? I was literally watching our lifetime limit decrease everytime we went to the dr. That's so messed up! Then Obama care passed and that disappeared off my statements! It's not all bad!! What is wrong with everyone. There is so much hate and I'm really upset over it. I truly thought we were better.

We are not better. Yesterday they crawled out of their holes in droves where they were incubating their bigotry in secret and proved we are not better. Whatever may come our way going forward, we brought it on ourselves.

Exactly, the unemployment number is so skewed because it doesn't include those who have given up trying to find employment. Better statistic is the labor participation rate which has declined since Obama took office. The rate went from 66.2 in 2008 to 62.8 in 2016. Obama's policies have not produced jobs.
