I've never eaten there, but there's one right next to the yoga studio I go to. You can just smell the grease when you leave class.

We were literally walking in and the first thing the hostess says to us is "excuse me, but no hats in this level of establishment." she didn't even give him a chance to take it off!! And we looked around and the place had a cheesy lounge singer singing and it looked like a chain restaurant. So we left and went to vincents. Dunno if the food is good or not!
OMG
It was SO cheesy! We have returned to Vincents many times, but never went back to Cioa Baby!

Tequila Surise in Bayside is so overrated IMO. The drinks are great but the food is not good and they are so overpriced.
YES!!! When we first moved here, we went there. We spent 98$ and all I really enjoyed was my margarita.

Its interesting so many people mentioned Cheesecake Factory- I went there in college and ended up with food poisoning.
Also, any time we have Friday's DH and I usually feel sick afterwads.
And I hate all Chinese buffets. I just find them so repulsive and greasy. DH goes by himself because I'm so grossed out by them.

That is absolutely hysterical!!! That place is beyond horrible! No self respecting Italian would ever enjoy that food! BTW, "that level of establishment" must have been bad because the restaurant no longer exists in Carle Place.

I am a sucker for chili's tho, i love that place!

and ciao baby - i've never eaten there but once my mom and dad went to dinner there and ordered the muscles as an app. well they didn't come out right so my dad asked the waiter to take them back and he ARGUED with my dad that they were fine and basically refused to take them away.

i second this.
we didn't like bliss up in e. setauket at all. people raved and it was overpriced and not good. our food had obviously sat under a lamp for a while before we got it, and the steak was cooked to beef jerky consistency.
blue honu in huntington, while i LOVE their martinis for happy hour, served me the most sinewy tuna steak i've ever eaten. it was done rare and completely inedible. not ok for the prices they charge.
gashos in hauppauge--decent hibachi, disgusting room with ancient, musty carpet that reminded me of the dining room of an outdated hotel--yuck.

I saw you put PF Changs. Can i just say the one on LI s*cks. We have gone to a couple in Ohio where some of my family lives, and it is sooooo much better. The restaurant is clean, the service was good, and the food was cooked the right way. There is something wrong with the management or something with the one in westbury.

G--my mom says the same thing. SHe loves the one in Ft Lauderdale (I do too) and hates the LI one (I havent been in yrs so I dont recall). But it is wierd that some PF's are awesome and the one in LI apparently stinks!

I have noticed this as well. I hate to say it (and I don't want to offend anyone!), but I really think there is a different work ethic elsewhere, vs. on LI and in the NYC area in general.
I am originally from the Hudson Valley and there are a lot of people who work in chain restaurants their whole lives. COL is obviously a lot lower, and good jobs are harder to find. Not everyone is college educated or feels "entitled" to a high-paying CEO type position just because they got a degree.
I think because of this, people tend to put their whole heart into their work, even if it's a chain restaurant.
My parents are retired and go to the same McDonald's I worked at as a teen for coffee pretty often. The same managers and a lot of the employees who were there when I was, are still there. AND they greet you with a smile and want to know how you are doing when you walk in.
I think this kind of attitude is often missing on LI.

We got my 30th catered by Piccolo's and everything was DELICIOUS! First time we've gotten food there...
And I am not huge on italian food in general because my moms from italy and no one can compare to her food, but I was pleasantly surprised!

I didnt know how much people hate Ciao Baby. I dont mind it, but I haven't been there in about 4 years. I know the owner too, a friend of mine is his best friend.
I hate hate Vincents. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants when it was in Smithaven Mall but now it's just terrible. DH & I absolutely hated our meals the last two times we went and their bread is just so disappointing now. Once we even got a loaf of Italian bread sliced not even the homemade kind.

I have to agree. I go to Ohio a lot because I have family from there. And I call it the chain restaurant capital of the world. So thats where we eat out when there. And people are just so nice and friendly. And Service is most of the time very very good. And the places are clean. there are exceptions of course. But in general I have better experiences there at chains than at chains or even some non-chains here.
