What is your monthly electric bill ?
And what is the square footage of your home ???
I can't help but feel like something si wrong w/ our electric bill !
We are on balanced billing and for the past year it has been $354 per month...
My house is 2800 sq ft and we have a basement that is 1400'ish ( that we use periodically) ......
We do have central air and run an IG pool in the summer...We also have a 60" flat-screen ....2 refrigerators and a an upright freezer....
They just raised our monthly bill to $409
Even with the things I listed, doesn't that sound a little on the high side ??? My SIL has a similar house ( but w/ out a pool) and has an apartment that is occupied in her basement and her bill is only $225 on balanced billing....
We also go through a full tank of oil every 3 weeks, but that's a whole 'nother thread

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
Last May, my bill was about $6
I love solar panels....
However, with all the rain and snow we've had this year, I don't get as much power out of the panels as I should. Hopefully this year I'll have a couple of months with a negative electricity usage.

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
It ranges from $200-220. ETA: 1600 sq ft ranch.
I feel that's on the high side for what we have running. That's all our appliances and lights (we have oil heat) right now. DD and I are home most of the day too.
Last Summer, our highest was $230 with intermittent a/c and dehumidifier running more, but I guess the a/c & dehumidifier usage cost as much as the more tv we watch in the Winter and the more lights we use.

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
4,000 sq feet, $500 a month for electric and about $250 for gas. That pales in comparison to the $1000 oil bills each month!!!!!

Our house is 2300 sq feet with vaulted ceilings. We have only been in our house for 2 months. The bill for Jan was $350 and the bill for Feb was $250. This includes electric and gas.

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
That sounds high. Ours is $211 a month. We have 2200 sq feet, 9 rooms, 2.5 bath, and electric everything. Plus a 2/3rds finished basement with an electric baseboard heater.
We don't have an IGP, but we have an AGP and run the filter daily during the summer along with our airconditioners.
When was your electric updated? What about your insulation?
Can you call them and ask them to come and do an assessment?
ETA: How old are your appliances? We switched out 1 old fridge for a full freezer and apartment sized fridge and it didn't make a difference in our electric. Energy efficient appliances make a difference.

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
$480 a month for a 2000 sq ft ranch (I thought it was 1800 sq ft, but my DH says it's 2000 sq ft. ) Our basement is not heated, but we have 2 bedrooms with electric baseboard heat and a bathroom with electric radiant heat. We also have some pretty powerful outdoor lights which are the equivalent to running a blowdryer for the same amount of time, so they use up a lot of energy when on.
We just installed a new whole house humidifier which has been working wonders. I used to keep the heat at 74, but now I'm comfortable at 68-70, so I'm hoping that will make a difference come the next billing cycle.

We have a 1,158 sq ft ranch with a full basement the same size. We are on balanced billing of $87 a month. We have a large L-shaped in ground pool which runs in the summer.
Call LIPA to come do a meter reading. Your bill seems very high. (631) 755-6000

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
$180/month.
I think we are 1800sq feet not including the basement that is used all the time (I don't know the footage down there)
We use gas stove but electric oven and electric dryer.
My husband is big on making sure we don't overuse any electric and unplugs stuff that isn't in use.

My house was built in 2001 and all but the washer is 9 years old (the washer is only 2 years old)
As for my house being well insulated ....Its horrible, the builders did a horrible job insulating ...Hence why my oil bill is ridiculous also

really? we have the same size apt and we're $58/month right now (meter read, not estimate). We're all electric, no gas. And DH has the TV on for 9-10 hrs/day.

Re: What is your monthly electric bill ?
Electric $150-200 (depending if we are running a/c) for 3,800 square feet and full basement and attic. Our gas is about $150-330 (depending if the heat is on.) Our home was just built and is very energy efficient.
