What is your monthly electric bill?
I know LIPA is way more expensive then Con Ed, but I am curious....A friend of mine has a 5 bedroom Colonial in Yonkers and her average monthly bill is 800.00. Doesn't that seem really high or am I just nieve? BTW, she doesn't have electric heat.

That does sound super high but it is possible that is her summer electric bill with the A/C's on.
We have LIPA and do a balanced budget...comes to $215/mo.

We just moved in August and we have been paying about $100 a month. it's just the two of us and we're both at work all day, so it's not bad at all.

our LIPA on balanced billing is $135/mo. we have gas stove and dryer though. I think it could be lower. $800/mo is crazy.

I live in NJ and we do have a very large house. For a while we were getting outrageous bills like that, that my husband would just pay without thinking twice about it. Turns out they were mis-billing us for a long time.. billing us on estimates rather than actual meter readings. In the end, we got a huge credit and went almost a year without having to pay a bill! Now our electric/gas bills are pretty average. I would tell your friend to investigatge a little, call them, something's not right!
Every now and then it happens to us again, we'll get a huge $800 bill, I really wish they would fire the guy that comes to read the meter every month!

During the summer my LIPA bill was around $400 dollars. I have a four bedroom victorian. In the winter it is around $200.

our average is $200-$300
we have electric heat and our apartment is the size of a small ranch house- 3 bed/2 bath
I am hoping this month is in the $150 range- since we really didn't use the heat or the A/C

We have gas heat and a gas stove so our electric bill is high in the summer and low in the winter. Our Feb bill is about $34 and our July bill is about $170. With gas we average $200 all year. We are in NJ.

I live in Whitestone in a 4 bedroom/3 bath colonial. We have central air & heat. Sad to say, $800 is an average monthly Con Ed bill for us.

Maybe her bill was for 2 months of electric?  I know our bills are generally for 2 months of usage and our most recent bill was $900+.
ETA: now that I think about it, your friend's bill sounds about right b/c our home is probably half the size of hers (3br ranch).
I asked my DH what we average and he said this past summer we were over 800 a month, so your friend's numbers are probably right.

4 bedroom 2 bath here and average is $130. For two months in the summer it was $220.
DH works from home 3-4 days a week and that's our bill. We have oil heat.

We average about $300 in the summer months with CAC on 24/7. In the winter, it's about $150-$200.
Yeah, I'd move if it were $800 a month!

Ours is about $75 - $80 a month. 4 BR cape with electric stove/dryer/washer. $800 seems a bit much.

This is about the same for us too. I just figured out our "average" for the past year and it was $273 a month.
I have a hi-ranch, 3br upstairs and 2br downstairs. 2 zones. My SIL lives downstairs with her 2 kids. We have gas heat/stoves/dryers.

4 bdrm cape. 205 balanced billing. We forgot to send meter reads and they estimated so our bills were coming in at 290 on Balanced billing. We called them to read themeter and they adjusted it.
Have them check her meter--that doesnt sound right at all.

I have a 3000 sq ft 4 bdr house. I also have 2 central ac's. one for upstairs one for down. I summer our bill is 800-1000. in winter 600-700
ETA: Our meter was checked and accurate. I do not leave lights on etc.

We have a 4 bedroom colonial w/ CAC and run an outdoor hottub. Our monthly budget is 293
