What are your thoughts on cold cuts!!
I just had a ham and swiss sandwhich for lunch. I haven't been eating b/c of nausea and I finally had a craving. So I did it.. I feel like maybe I shouldn't have.
The deli is always very busy and is clean.
what are your thoughts!!

The reason some people avoid it is because of Listeria. You actually have a higher chance of getting this from a prepackaged salad then you do cold cuts. I eat them and I don't worry.

I eat them in moderation - maybe once a week. I get turkey and the place is very clean and goes through a lot of turkey so I figure I'm ok. I'm an "in moderation" type of person.

if your body was craving it - then your body needed something from it...plain & simple.
i'm part of the 'moderation' theory on most everything...would i eat cold cuts EVERY DAY? Probably not....but once in a while? YEP!

I have had a piece of a hero once and some dry sausage another time, I think it's ok, although that doesn't stop me from worrying after I already ate it either!

I have had them a few times- I wouldn't worry too much about it as long as the deli is nice and clean!

I don't see any harm in moderation of certain things, but that could be because I just ate a turkey and swiss sandwich ...but really I feel like our parents were MUCH worse eating and doing things that are TABOO now.

i had it for lunch today too. It's fine in moderation - OR if you want to be extra careful, you can always heat it. That will kill any listeria!

I've had turkey twice since I've found out....both times heated up but I would have it not heated as well. My doctor said in moderation...don't have it everyday but if you want it, have it.

Like Jess said I was probably craving some protein b/c I haven't been able to eat ANY meat!!!!

I avoided them in my first trimester & try to not eat them but for the past 2 weeks I have been craving Genoa Salami. I got it & only had it over the weekend. It definately subsided the craving. I think you have to be your own advocate.

I agree and was the same way! I have had sliced corned beef-but heated.. I think it's up to you and your comfort level.. but when I have a craving, I def fill it!!!

for the 1st 18 or so weeks of being pregnant i had to have a salami w/ provolone sandwich EVERY morning for breakfast.
i am now 24 weeks (the craving is gone) but i have a healthy pregnancy

i eat them and i dont worry. my doctor said to avoid buying cold cuts in new places. but if youve been getting your sandwiches there for the past 2 yrs then your ok.

I only eat pre packaged cold cuts, even though they aren't as good. I also never eat from salad bars or buffets.

I generally don't like cold cuts, so I am fine not eating them. But overall, I think if you trust the source you should be fine.

my Dr. said certain cold cuts like turkey, ham and roast beef were all pre-cooked, so that eliminates the listeria scare.
I eat them whenever i want, though i avoid the meats that aren't cooked.

i only eat it when its nuked or toasted...
as clean as some places appear- i just never know... people on the north shore LOVE bagel boss.. yet ive seen flies land on things many times in there
