I have no words. That poor, poor little baby.

I hope this comes out making sense.

You hear these stories about mothers who are just so desperate and are pushed to the brink and murder their children and some small part of me feels for them. What must have gone on in those houses that pushed them to do that? And then you hear about the husbands controlling nature or that they had to homeschool their 5 kids under 5 and cook and clean and again, this SMALL part just breaks for them. I mean, no mercy to them, don't get me wrong. But you can see how they slipped into that state. And while I'm not saying that how they murdered their children was merciful compared to this, in a way it is! This is the most despicable, horrific thing I've heard. *****??? There truly is no room in this world. Chat Icon

euthanasia? I think you mean the death penalty.

she's been charged with capital murder so it could come to fruition.

I think she will be found to be (or have been at the time of the crime) completely insane.

Why waste the resources on a trial, professional analysis of her psychological condition, etc. They put down mad dogs fast enough...should be the same in this instance.

so just say "kill her" then.

euthanasia implies a "mercy" killing, which is something you clearly don't feel she deserves.

as for why "waste" the resources...there may be no trial.

I also believe we don't consider due process of the law to be wasteful.

I do not condone or "excuse" what she did. I read the entire article and it is just the most heinous...the worst sin.

but just b/c something is more heinous and causes a more viceral reaction in us as people does not mean that we throw our laws out the window.

anyway, the only thing that matters is that poor infant. may God rest his soul.

Re: WARNING...Highly upsetting news article in post

from my understanding of reading the article she was know to have emotional issues and she was suffering from PPD. I find that if you have both working against you that you shouldn't be allowed to keep your children. I am sorry if you can get a handle on your depression and you are know to be a threat to yourself then why allow the individual to give birth and keep a child?

Now i think if you suffer from a normal PPD that is normal and can be managed but if you have pre-existing physiological disorders you shouldn't be keeping any child.

She was sick, she probably did not know what the hell she was doing and honestly she will probably sit in a mental ward for until 10 years goes by and they let her loose because she is found sane.

Re: WARNING...Highly upsetting news article in post

It is horrific!

But unless you know the circumstances, it's hard to understand how someone could EVER do something like that.

I knew 2 women with severe PPD.

One wanted to kill her child (I won't describe what she wanted to do to her child!). She luckily never did. She asked for help and recovered from PPD. She felt so guilty 10 years later that she let's her daughter do whatever she wants. We thought she was just a spoil little brat and when we talked to her mom she made the confession. I was in shock! You cannot imagine how guilty this woman felt just for wanted to kill her daughter. She said her daughter's cries turned out into an insane woman who could only think of shutting the baby up.

The wife of my father's cousin. Killed her 3 yo adorable little boy. She had PDD after giving birth to a little brother who was 6 weeks old. She had a history of depression. It was VERY horrific. IT STILL HUNT ME 20 years later! She is in a mental institution. Will never go out. She completely lost it. She will most likely never recover enough to understand what she did. She will never be eligible to see her other daughter and other boy. You will think she deserves to die. Of course, but she does not even know. She is "gone".

I won't sit here and speculate why this woman did what she did, I don't know her outside of this article but whatever the case may be something was very wrong and it's terrible that this heinous act happened.
