her baby shouldve been ripped away from her before this ever happened. she was clearly not in the right state of mind to care for a child. it seems many signs were pointing in that direction before she committed that heinous crime.Chat Icon

Placing blame and "what should have been done" is moot.

That is what is really bothering me. Why did that hospital not call her family or CPS and tell them to watch her? Why didn't they just KNOW to watch her after she checked into a hospital for hearing voices???Chat Icon Chat Icon

this is why I cannot condone putting this woman to death for this.

if she is guilty of capital murder, the staff at the hospital, her husband, her family...everyone that knew of her condition and did nothing or next to nothing to "help" her or insure the safety of her child should also be hauled into the court and taken to task.

their hands are NOT clean of this. AT ALL.

If my heart wasn't hurting enough from reading the article, seeing the pictures of this innocent, beautiful angel just ripped me open. My God, how can a human being inflict such pain on such an innocent? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

a very sick person.

I am not condoning this person's behavior, NOT AT ALL...but call me a sucker for the mentally ill... it is a TERRIBLE thing that people don't recognize people who are mentally ill the way they do people who are physically ill. This person was pretty much a prisoner of her own psychosis, and it is a DEVASTATING thing..

I feel sorry for this woman. She obviously didn't have any type of support group or medical care.

ITA...I know a teenage girl who is schizophrenic, and see her getting worse and worse by the day. She has NO control over her thoughts, and is tortured by them. No excuse for whatever this woman did (didnt read the article), not at all. But no person in their right mind would do this.

the reason why its so devastating is because most probably this woman had NO CLUE what she was doing, as gruesome as the act may have been. It is hard to empathize because in the end, she killed an innocent child... You wouldn't pass blame on someone who suffered a heart attack and caused a horrific car accident that left someone dead, it's *kind of* the same thing if you think about it (Yes- I know-- that is a STRETCH... I don't except anyone to understand)

She was SICK. It should have been prevented.... My heart goes out to that family.

It is a stretch, but I do understand the point you're making and I agree with you. I'm terribly saddened by the death of that little baby and by such tortuous means no less. What's equally saddening is that there were red flags all over the place and no one was there to save that little boy from her, no one to save her from herself. Chat Icon

Re: WARNING...Highly upsetting news article in post

I read this article yesterday, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since.

I have never heard of something so tragic and horrific in my life.
