Spinoff to dumb comment vent!

The comments that my mom and I have been getting alot when telling people I'm pregnant are SO ANNOYING and so irrelevant, especially considering the times we live in!!!!

1.) "Wow you guys didn't waste any time did you??"

-ok we've been together over 5 years, and we were married 1 year when we got pregnant...aren't we in 2011 when people are getting pregnant BEFORE marraige? with same sex partners? on their own? Why is it such a shock that I'm pregnant after being married a year? This just aggravates me because it's so ignorant..

2.) "Is the house done yet? Are you ready to put a baby in there?"

- again, really?????????????????? Yes, we just bought a house in April, but 90% of the work is done on it, except for redoing the bathrooms, which DH is bartering with someone for his Quad anyway before baby comes (like it's anyone's business)...and again, isn't this 2011? Where lots of people live in apartments for YEARS before getting a house, if ever getting one? And did all of my friends/family members seriously have their house COMPLETELY done to their liking before having kids???? I THINK NOT!

How about people just say , "Congratulations! We're so happy for you!"???

Ugh I'm sorry, people can be really dumb and speak before they think. We haven't told anyone yet but I am NOT looking forward to these types of comments.

peopel are nuts.. its like if they **HAVE** to say something to kinda prick you a little bit but not enough to lash out at them.. and many of these people need to take a good look at themselves in the mirror before they start nitpicking other people and their lives..

I'm thinking I'm going to get the opposite comments, like "it's about time" and it's really going to aggravate me because people don't know I was pregnant once before.

I never say anything when I hear someone is pregnant except for congratulations. I don't know what is so hard about that!

I honestly think that some people just want to rain on other people's parades because they are jerks. I'll be honest and admit that there were a few times that I heard someone was pregnant and my initial thought may not have been the nicest thing but I would never ever make a comment which is why I think some people say things just to be mean.

I think that you just can't win, no matter what someone is going to have a dumb comment.

We waited 5 years to have DS (and dated 5 years before getting married) so for us it was "what took you so long?". As soon as we had DS-and I mean literally weeks-we got "so when are you having another?"

Now that I'm PG with DC#2 (DS is only 16 months old) we've gotten responses varying from, "didn't wait too long did you?" to, "hopefully it will be a girl this time". My own MOTHER said, "Are you sure (DH) wants another? Isn't it too soon?" when I told her about BFP.

I've just learned to develop a thick skin and at the stupidity and insensitivity of people.

my biggest pet peeve is people commenting on the size of my bump... you look too small for 7 months... you're huge... etc.

I'm on my third and we already have one of each. So you can only imagine the complete shock when we tell people we're having another one. It never occured to anyone that I would like to have another.
