no.. I do not bring my dog in public. I also have a dog that many see & do NOT want to touch.. so my answer is no..
but mainly because I choose not to bring her in public places where she doesn't belong, hence causing the unwanted attention
think about it.. when you bring a dog where they normally are found (dog parks, street, pet friendly stores) it isn't a big deal.. When a dog is found somewhere it doesn't belong, it causes a scene and everyone wants to see and touch the "cute little doggy"
not true at all, even when i'm at dog parks or walking them, people still always come over. dogs get attention no matter what. they're cute and cuddly
and just so we're all clear, i didn't see a sign at target saying no pets, so as far as i'm concerned, it's fair game
whoa nelly, I didnt say it doesn't happen. I said it "isn't a big deal".. no drama needed
get it right or pay the price...

I was thinking the same thing.. I was at target today and since this topic ALWAYS comes up, I was tempted to take a pic with my phone

Great now you can encourage those posters to go hump each other in front of Target. Should have had a sign...sigh.
I've already posted it is a VIOLATION in NYS to have a dog in a store that SELLS food....staying away from the food doesn't make it better. It is VIOLATION & I truly hope that managers start stepping up to the plate on the issue. I guess the only way to to do it is to have the store get fined enough times before it's part of the manager training course.
And to answer your fake original question, no one should pet a dog unless they've spoken to the owner first.

BC my kids allowed in the store your dog isnt.
not true. at least this target allowed my dog in it. the employees were even talking to me about my dog.
