PSA-Capri Sun!!!! (UPDATE 8/3 on page 4)

My friend opened a capri sun for her daughter and it smelled rancid. This is what she found inside.

Has anybody ever seen this in the pouch? GROSS!!!!!!

UPDATE:

The reason why her husband opened the pouch was because they went to pour it into the sink (after it smelled funny) and he felt a large, hard mass in it. That is why he cut it open. IT WAS HARD!!!!

She finally heard back from the company. Here is what she said:

"the company offered to send us a check for $7 today, AND
their statement is that they think it will turn out to be mold. They're
coming to get a sample tomorrow to take to their lab, meanwhile we're
having it sent to an independent lab for testing."

UPDATE 6/10:
She is very vigilant in spreading the word. Not only did she send a piece to Kraft for them to test, but also sent a piece to 3 independent labs in Florida. (Awaiting those results) She did say it was a very ahrd substance. That was the reason they cut open the pouch in the first place. They felt HARD in there. They even said it was hard to cut.

Kraft just posted this statement on their Facebook account:

"The quality and safety of Kraft Foods products and Capri Sun are our very highest priorities.

We recently received word from a consumer about an issue with a Capri Sun pouch. We understand that some of you are concerned. Now that we’ve tested the material, we’ve confirmed it was mold. While unpleasant, it is not a safety issue. If this had been a safety issue, Kraft Foods certainly would have taken the necessary steps, including issuing a recall.

As a general food safety tip, please remember that because Capri Sun beverages don’t have preservatives, a leaky pouch can cause the beverage to spoil and discarding it is the right action to take.

We hope this information helps clarify what you may have read about. And we appreciate your understanding the time we took over the past few days to conduct testing and ensure we responded to our consumers with factual information.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact Kraft Foods at 1-866-KRAFT-02."

It is so tough. People are posting on there that this girl is just trying to get money out of Kraft. They can be so mean. She just wants to make sure that everything is safe for the kids.

UPDATE Sun 6/13:

There have been more cases to arise since my friend went global about this. She has been blocked from Kraft's Facebook fan page so she decided to create a facebook page named Cranky Onamission for those interested in keeping tabs about the Capri Sun issue. She wisely decided to keep her personal Facebook page and the page in reference to the Capri Sun issue separate. She already has nearly 800 fans on her Cranky Onamission page. Please feel free to look up the page on Facebook and become a fan if you are interested in keeping up with this.
