Placenta issues
OK So first off, Baby boy is doing GREAT! Still breech though....
I had my 30 week appointment with my OB for a check up and to go over the sonogram I got at LIJ this past Thursday.
Basically I have a very low lying placenta.....which everyone was saying was fine until tonight.
Basically from this point on, no more exercising for me at all-not even stretching/yoga at home...my OB was like you walk through the city 5 days a week and that's MORE than enough.. and on that note he said to walk slow and really take it easy. No power walking, no running for a train, nothing.
And no as there's a very high risk of bleeding.
He said that hopefully the placenta will resolve itself...but that if I don't follow his orders and really slow down that there's a good possibility of ending up on bedrest
I'm so upset, I've prided myself on being so active and not really slowing down this pregnancy. I have no problem doing that-I'm just petrified to go on bed rest. Basically if that happens, it would start my mat leave only giving me 6-8 weeks off with when he comes.
I need a hug

Oh no Jen, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how much working out and staying fit means to you! I know the walking isn't much but at least you can still keep mobile!
sending many hugs to you and fingers crossed it will NOT come to bed rest!

Re: Placenta issues
Lots of hugs going your way. Just follow the doctors orders you've been an excellent pregnant person and all of the working out and staying in shape is going to help you so much during the delivery. Now it's time to relax. You can do it!

Re: Placenta issues
Keep your chin up, Jen! Even with your commute alone, you're probably still more active than the average person. I'll send positive vibes your way and hope that little dude of yours does not need you to go on bedrest!

Re: Placenta issues
Lots of to you! I am so sorry that you are going through all of this. Believe I know exactly how you feel! I felt the same way...I wanted to be the "super" pregnant girl who worked out the entire pregnancy and never complained. Then things started getting taken away from me, first working out, then ing, the all of my freedom. I know it is hard to process today but tom you will wake up and know that all of this is to bring you a healthy little man! It all works out!
But lots of that your placenta moves and you don't have to worry about any of it anymore!

Re: Placenta issues
That really stinks -
If it's any consolation I am in the same exact boat. I've been on pelvic rest now for the past 2 months, no exercising, no lifting etc, due to placenta previa also.
It bummed me out alot, since I love the gym and needed to take it easy. I go back on 12/30 for another ultrasound to see if it's moved. My dr is already mentally preparing me for a c-section - I am praying that it's resolved, but the last 2 sonograms, it has stayed the same.
Just take it easy and follow your dr's advice.

Aww Jen, I'm so sorry you are going through this. Being restricted totally stinks but just remember that it's only temporary and then you get a great gift at the end of it for all of your cooperation.

Re: Placenta issues
Oh Jen, I'm sorry to hear this latest development! You should be really proud for having remained as active as you have to this point! Don't feel bad about having to take it easy for the rest of the time - just make sure you do so that you can work as long as you can!
Hang in there!

Re: Placenta issues
Thanks so much girls.
It's not so much the bed rest that upsets me, it's the thought of not getting 12 weeks with DS when he arrives.
In the event of bed rest, I'd only get 6 weeks (8 if C-section) of mat leave..
I'm talking with my boss today to go over some options. Here's what I'm gonna propose, in the event this happens:
Option 1-work from home exclusively until due date
Option 2-take 4 weeks unpaid leave to add onto the mat leave.
**I have 4 weeks of vacation for the year, but I want to save them to use throughout the year.
I'll post an update later.
Thanks so much for the hugs, prayers, and kind words. They are so appreciated.

Re: Placenta issues
I bet that placenta of yours will move up by your next appointment
As for the maternity leave, I totally get how you are feeling. I have now wasted a week of mine that I will not have for when baby comes home but instead of getting upset about it I just look at it like this is what my body needs to finish this pregnancy healthy and we will all do whatever we have to to have a healthy baby in the end. Keep us posted
