Off to Orthopedic tommorrow in the AM Please say a quick prayer for us!! ****UPDATE!!!****
Well I decided to bypass getting an
X-ray on my ds hips on my own and make an appt with the orthopedic. If it had to be a STAT X-ray like my dr. wrote on the perscription, why am I wasting my time with an x-ray to be done, sent to my dr who will then send me to an orthopedic. And really isn't the orothopedic more qualified to read the x-ray?
So I called and told them that he is a week away from being 6 months and already looking to push up on his knees to maybe rock and crawl. At first they couldn't get me in until Nov 8th but after the receptionist spoke with the Dr., I have an appt for tomorrow at 9:20.
Please pray that his hips are fine. I can't imagine having a 6 month old in a lower body cast for 2-3 months. I'm heartbroken!! TIA!!
UPDATE 10/30 9:30pm
Well I went to see Dr. Harabalotos from StonyBrook. Since ds is a few days shy of 6 months the best way to see if there is a problem with his hips is an
X-ray. DS was GREAT!! It was only one pic for the X-ray.
About 5 mins later the Dr. walked in and said "Well he's perfect! The X-rays were perfect!" She then asked me why my Dr. was concerned as she was checking his legs. I told her about the asymetrical thigh folds which she was already looking at and he his butt checks don't line up. She then says yeah they don't really line up, so I can see why you are so upset but he's just a big baby who has some baby fat in those places but he's perfect.
I can't tell you how great it felt to have about 50 pounds lifted off my chest! This is the 2nd time I have used this DR. She is GREAT with kids.
Most of all, thank you all so much for your concern and prayers!! You ladies are the best. It's so nice to know I have so many friends to talk me off a ledge!! LOVE YA ALL!!

I assume they are looking for hip dysplasia. I had to see a ped. orthopedist when DS was 2 months old b/c his hips were clicking. They did NOT an x-ray b/c they are dangerous. They did a sonogram of his hips and I have to go back in 6 months. Luckily they did not see anything but if they do for some reason in his next visit, they will send him for an x-ray. DS is almost 7 months and already crawling and pulling himself to stand so I think he is ok. Ask for a sono before an x-ray!!!!

Good Luck with everything, I hope all is OK with your DS. If he does end up needing a cast, I have a friend who has done it with 2 of her children and could possibly offer some BTDT advice.
Do you mind me asking which pediatric orthopedist? You can FM if you like, just bc my DD has been to one as has my friend I mentioned and is a very good orthopedist but notoriously late on appts, even the first one of the day. If it is the same one, I'd just give you the heads up.
