why do you keep bringing up OTHER people when we are asking what has AL SHARPTON done to help with these issues?? Because sharpton is the one who organized this 'protest'
and by your response i guess i can see that you just follow what Al says and have no examples of any good he's done for the community. sadly i feel so many people who are followers of Al Sharpton always says the same thing "he speaks for the community!" yet can never say anything about what good its done.

Because the point of a protest is to bring attention to your point. Protesting during rush hour at major commuting areas gets more attention.
I didn't read all the responses, but this is the point. This is why Critical Mass does their monthly bike rides during rush hour, it gets more attention that way. If the protest was on the great lawn, the only people who would see it would be the people there and the ones who watch the news that night.

you are not a person that continually focuses on the negative side of people? have you ever stated ONE single positive thing police officers do every single day of their lives? CAN you state one positive thing about police officers? If you want us to focus on the good and not the bad then why don't you take your own advice. you seem to focus only on police brutality and make it like all police officers are bad. so, if you can't name one positive thing Al has done - what about the cops?

sorry but there are no other "positive" things I can follow about Al--because all I see of his actions ARE negative. the moment something happens with police Al Sharpton is there EXPLOITING the situation and AUTOMATICALLY blaming them every single time.
i know this -- personaly--- because he got involved in an issue with someone that is a member of my family and exploited the issue immeidately....but once certain facts came out -- showing the police DID do the right thing -- he magically disappeared and walked away. that is his MO.
the fact that you STILL have not told us ONE good thing that Al has done besides 'speak for the black community' - really shows me something.
and trust me-- he doesn't have to kill or rape someone to make him "bad"....all he has to do is incite people - which hes good at doing. if any protestors are hurt today -- i'm SURE that Al will blame the police....and take no responsibility for it.

Now that's total crap. I don't like him because he's a BIGOT and a hate monger. His color doesn't play into it. I don't care if you're red/green or polka dot, if you're going to put it out there that you are anti-XYZ races, well heck, YEAH I'm going to have a problem with you. I personally think MLK was one of the greatest men walking. He made his point in a strong but articulate manner. You didn't see him resorting to the b.s. tatics that A.S. does to draw attention to his position or his message.

I've seen a list of reasons given on this thread, none of which are 'ignorant' ........The "real" reason which you're implying everyone thinks but not one is saying seems to be the only "ignorant" one to me .........And I think it's pretty offensive of YOU to put that out there - Way to play the racism card. -
Person A tells you they don't like him for reasons 1-10, Person B for reasons 11-20 and so on - you don't agree with any of those, or they're not good enough for YOU, so YOU decide that EVERYONE doesn't like him b/c he's black? Please -

I dont see how grouping together all of the members of the NYPD, and saying they are wrong because they brutalize people is helping anyone or anything. These men and women put their lives on the line everyday to maintain some sort of order and safety for everyone. There will always be bad seeds, in every situation/group of people. I dont see how any good can come of rallying against the men and women who are doing their jobs trying to keep us all safe.
