HSG and Shellfish Allergy
I am having the HSG test done but am really scared as I am allergic to all fish and shellfish and I have heard that I can have an allergic reaction to the iodine that they inject in you. My doctor knows about my allergy but tells me that there are other types on non iodine injections that they can do for me. Has anybody with a shellfish allergy gone through this?

Re: HSG and Shellfish Allergy
I believe the doc is right and they can use a different type of dye. Have you asked the place where you're getting it done? I know when I made my appointment they asked me about a shellfish allergy, and then they asked me again twice when I went for the HSG. The doc said allergic reactions tend to be fewer with an HSG because the dye is going into the tubes and not the bloodstream. Def give them a call and see what they say.

I am also allergic to CT Contrast which is ionic and can cause severe reactions. I dont think its the same otherwise you would have to sign a consent and I was fine. No reaction at all. Good luck
