We had it in an Italian restaurant. We had about 60 people. There was no DJ or anything like that. Just a dinner.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

We had DS's christening celebration at our local Knights of Columbus Hall. It turned into something a little more formal than originally planned but I'm glad it did, it was really nice. We had about 80 people and did a buffet dinner and open bar we did floral centerpieces and did favors and had activities for the children. We opted for no DJ but brought mix CD's and piped them through the house sound system.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

We didn't want it big.
So we decided to have it in our backyard.
It ended up being about 60 Chat Icon which was not planned - but just our immediate family is 30 people . So it had to be done this way.

We figured, if we can afford it - we will have a BIG 1st b-day

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

He had about 100 people. We did it at a local firehouse but it was nothing formal. We had a catered buffet plus beer, wine and soda. My sister used her MP3 player in the Pa system with speakers all around instead of a DJ.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

#1 - large party at restaurant
#2 - small party at restaurant
#3 - even smaller party at home

Poor #3...

But in retrospect, my least favorite party of all 3 was the first one. Maybe thats me talking after having 3 but I liked the at home, immediate family only party we just did.

ETA: BTW, I dont think my large party would be considered huge though...we didnt do a DJ or anything that elaborate but it was about 60 ppl in a private room at a restaurant

We had the same 60 people in a private room at a restaurant. No DJ but favors, centerpieces, etc.

This was nothing compared to what DH's family usually does. They usually have at least 80 people at a hall, with a DJ.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

#1 we had a huge party in our Beach Clubhouse with about 100 people. For #2 we had just family at our house. But our immediate family is 29. For # 3 I'm thinking of just family at a restaurant. i just don't want to think about all the set up and clean up at my house agin. i want someone else to do it and walk away and go home a relax.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

We had the party in our backyard so we invited a lot of people. We ended up with around 40 or 50 people. Made sandwiches and salads and ordered a cake. No DJ or anything.

I wanted a small party and Dh wanted something bigger and he won! We had it at a croatian resturant and it also had a dance floor so my FIL got us a one man band guy who is pretty good so we also had dancing. We had about 75 people.

Re: For those who have christened their babies..

I definitely did not want a large party - neither did DH. We had everyone over to a restaurant for lunch after the christening. It was about 35 people, open bar and full lunch. No DJ, etc.

My DH and I were like you guys...we ended up going with the big party--his idea. We had it at a hall and we had about hmmm...80 people? We did not have a DJ and we did not give out favors.
