For those who finished their basements
Did you do any water proofing before you finished it? What exactly did you do? And did you hire a Contractor or just do it yourself? TIA

Our basement was also finished but you can see from the unfinished side that the cinderblock walls were coated with a black sealer of some kind. When we had the laminate floor installed our contractor had a meter that measured the moisture content in the floor to determine if it was too high for the laminate.
When I lived in Michigan my house had a problem with rain water seeping into the basement and the solution was to dig a trench around the outside to the base of the walls and add gravel to aid drainage, then inprove the grade around the house to funnel water away from the wallls. That solved my water problems there.
