flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
that is the ONE thing I feel badly about with my current situation...that Luce hasn't been out that much in his 5 months of life. we go out a lot on the weekends, but mostly it's been just running him to and from the car and then into stores.
my MIL is spry but she is still 76 and has a knee issue...we got her the lightest weight stroller possible and I know he'll be going out more now that the weather is nicer...but his excursions thus far have been few and far between.
anyone go out at night after work for walks?

When it's nice..yes we go for walks and on the weekends too. We have a pizza place up the block so when we order food we walk to get it with DS. can't wait for consistent nice weather!!! ETA: daycare takes the infants outside when it's nice out.

Now that the weather is getting nicer, I try to take DS out every night when I get home.
He has a little play buddy who lives 2 houses down from me, and her mom and I are usually on the same bus coming home.
We go in, relieve our babysitters and meet back outside even if it is just for one hour.

DS goes out with DH when it's nice out and DH is home with him.
I'm going to start doing walks in the evening now as well - since it's staying lighter later and getting warm. DS LOVES being outside.

We do walks with the dog in the warmer weather.
When it's nice I just like to go out back with him even for a little while to get him some air.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
I worked FT from the time DS was 3 months until 6 months and then PT (3 days) until he was about 18 months. My ILs watched him while I worked.
He was out regularly. My ILs are in their early-mid 60s and are very active. I joke that he was a regular at Costco and the cashiers would recognize DS. (not really of course) But they also took him to the park, for walks in the neighborhood, to the beach etc.
They like to be on the move, so we was too. I would say they took him out 80% of the time they had him even if it was just to the store

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
When DS was an infant....we used to take walks after we came home with him in the stroller.
He was born in June....so he & I did LOTS of walking that summer! His 1st fall into early winter we did after work walks in the stroller!
NOW.....as soon as we get out of the car he is running down the block yelling "Mommy walk!!!" So we both work FT but he gets plenty of outside time after work with us!!

When the weather is nice my mother takes DD out 2x a day to the park and I will also take her for a walk at night when I get home.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
DD is home with my MIL one day a week.
She takes her out in the stroller and will walk around my driveway with her for an hour (she won't take her walking in the neighborhood since the sidewalk is on the other side of the street and she won't cross the street), or put her in the swing on the swingset in our backyard for a while if the weather is nice (otherwise she's bundled up within an inch of her life in the stroller! )
2 days per week she is in daycare and on nice days they take them out. Depending on when I get home with her and if it's nice out, I stay outside in the backyard on the swing with her for a while before dinner.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
the sitter takes them out during the day as long as it is not raining...then, when we get home, she gets an hour to play outside while I get dinner ready...she will play in the backyard on her swing set and play house, or go for a "bike ride" (I put that in " " as she cannot really ride the bike yet, but she tries)
the other night, her, dh and I kicked the soccer ball around the front lawn while KJ napped

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
My mother watches my DS. She doesn't get out much with him. She's waiting for the weather to get nicer. She's taken him to my sister's house a handful of times, but that's about it.
Two weeks ago when the weather was nice, she went for some walks in the neighborhood, but she doesn't like to take him out when it's cold or windy.
Once it gets warmer out, I plan to go for a 30 min walk with DS when I get home from work. We usually only have about an hour of "play" time after work before he's winds down for bed, so I wont be able to spend that much time outdoors with him, but my parents will have him outside almost daily by then.

After dinner we all go for a walk during the spring and summer (when it's light out til 8).
During the winter, not so much. But we do "quality" activities in addition to watching TV.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
Too and from the car weekdays
Weekends I take him all over when I run errands. He's been to a parade, walking around Port Jeff... one weekend when it was really warm I put a blanket out in the backyard. He seem fascinated by all the sights and sounds. My parents watch him 1 day a week, when it's nice they take him for walks.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
My ILs watch Kaydyn during the week and they would take her out everyday that it was nice. They would go in the backyard, go for walks, go to the park.
I would try to take her out on the weekends.
Now with DD#2 here I would like to try to go for walks or least go outside for a little bit after when I go back after my maternity leave.

We're really lucky - DS' sitter watches him and her granddaughter (she's 10m older than my DS). I bought her a double stroller off craigslist for $25 - best investment ever!
She takes the kiddos for a walk as often as possible. If its a little chilly, she will only do a few blocks, but its still outside.

DD is in daycare. When the weather is nice they go out a few times a day. She's only 10 months so they go out in the strollers but she loves it.
Sometimes after dinner DH and I will take a walk with her to Dunkin Donuts for some coffee.

We have a nanny who takes DS out ALL the time. If it's not raining, they're out and about.
In the summer, we always take DS to the park after work. I love it!

My mom watches DS while we work.
DS goes to the playground and stroller walks everyday.
If I get home before the sun is down, I take him to the playground by our apt.
On the weekends, we take him along with us while we run errands and hang out with friends.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
Once it gets warm out and stays light longer we go out to the park or for a walk, or a walk to ralphs for ices, or just out front (we live in a co-op so we dont have a yard, per se) almost every night once I get home. I dont like missing the gorgeous weather with him, so I dont. Sometimes we eat dinner outside "picnic style" just to enjoy the weather together. We spend the entire weekend outside once its nice out. Daycare takes the kids out 2Xs a day too and the other days my Mom watches him and spends the majority of the day outside with him.

Re: flip side spin off...working moms...how often does your LO go outdoors?
My sister takes DD out for at least an hour a day when the weather is decent. She still goes out when it is chilly, just not when it is raining or snowing.
But I need to lose my baby weight so I have been tossing around the idea with DH of going out when we get home from work for a walk. I think we will start doing that when it warms up.

I go out at night when I get home from work. I will also take my son to the playground or the swing in our front yard. If the weather is bad, we don't go out.

IF it is light out when I get home from work AND the weather is nice, I pull DD around the courtyard in her Radio Flyer wagon. This summer she'll be trying out her tricycle.
