I'm glad i finally got to read the whole Janet debacle - i only knew snippets of it here and there but never the whole thing (holy shit, what a con artist!!!). Its good that the whole story is finally out there now though.
I do remember a lot of her original posts, and that her crazy non sensical way of writing totally turned me off from reading anything she posted. I could never understand why people were so drawn in by her and assumed she was someone that people knew IRL and there was more to her story than what was posted.
For those of you who did believe her, and reach out to help her - you're all waaayy nicer than i would have been to a random stranger on the internet!
But then again im usually a cynic by nature 
But I do now totally understand the anger, frustration and cynicism towards her that was expressed so vehemently at the beginning of this thread. It's well deserved.
I do still think that alot of the anger and confusion expressed by posters like myself in the beginning of this thread could have been avoided if someone had just explained it up front instead of making veiled references to some bad stuff happening.
I understand not wanting to rehash, but maybe this will be a lesson for some of the other posters that this community isn't so small anymore, and not everyone on here knows everything about everyone. So posting comments that only a handful of people will understand, is sometimes asking for more trouble and drama (as evidenced by the first 7 pages of this thread)

anyway.. Perhaps a good thing to come out of this whole thread was some catharsis for the LIF community?

I hope so. And in terms of the generousity vs. strangers on the internet, as PP stated it was a small community, and we all felt it when Keith passed away. I couldn't even go back and read the threads others posted, because it really was a horrible thing.

I wasn't planning on touching this thread. But in the spirit of illuminating the newer posters, I wanted to add something.
I agree with some of the APs that I think the reason so much support was given to Janet was that she lost her DH so soon after they were married, she had a young daughter and from what she said, it got ugly with his family at the end. She was also living in a trailer with a home that was unlivable and no means to repair it or improve her situation. Many people stepped up to help in many ways.
So there was a fundraiser. But what I want to say is that Ron and LIF went above and beyond. They asked many of their vendors to donate to it. It was an event that must have taken a great deal of time and effort to put together in a relatively short period of time. It was something that really brought the community together and I think what angers so many people is how anyone could keep coming back with her hand out after such a generous outpouring of support, both emotionally and financially.
