I do, because we do a lot of cooking, raw meats, marinades and such, and I'm always paranoid traces of bacteria will be left on the sponge. Okay for us, but for infant, I guess I'm a worry wart.

Well, we already have 2 sponges LOL. We don't have a dishwasher .. so one gets used on the nasty stuff...like the sink... things that got burned to something...yucky things. Then the other one is used for basic cleaning... we use that same sponge for Peanut's stuff and ours LOL.

Yep. I keep her sponge in the drainboard with all her sippy cups. I don't like the idea of using the regular sponges to clean her things..........between cleaning the table, plates, etc. it just is icky to me to use them on her sippy cups.

Yes, the bottle brushes are only for the babys things. Everyone knows that in my house! I'm anal with those things.

I did up until a few months ago. At this point I think it is okay to use the same one (plus I'm always bleaching mine and changing it often) In the beginning when he was an infant I did use a seperate one bc they are more prone to bacterias

Re: Do you use a different sponge for your baby's untensils & bowls?
I had 1 sponge for dishes,1 bottle brush for the babies bottles and 1 bottle brush for my other kids sippy cups so I dont think you are being looney at all. now that my DS is almost 1 I stopped using 2 bottle brushes and but I still dont use a regular sponge on the kids stuff.

I EBF'd DS until 14 months so there was no bottle washing for us. As far as his utensils and bowls were concerned I just throw everything in the dishwasher.

No but I am pretty on top of my sponges. I microwave them every night and I make sure they are wrung out well and I have a container that lets air flow around them. I replace it every week or so.

Re: Do you use a different sponge for your baby's untensils & bowls?
YES I always did, esp when DD had bottles, etc. I dont think it's LOONEY at all. Sponges carry more bacteria than anything!
Now that she is older and eating all table foods, not as much. But I do keep a different sponge for eggs, meats, chicken, baked on crud, and oh, a sink sponge too.
And I make sure to let my sponges dry out each night and use a new one each week or so. Also microwave it once in a while and I used to boil them to sterlize them when DD was an infant (the pkg says you can do this).

Re: Do you use a different sponge for your baby's untensils & bowls?
I absolutely use a separate sponge just for DS' bowls and spoons. Not only that but I won't put any of his things in the sink, I have separate large bowl where i put his dirty bowls and bottles. I also make sure that there is nothing in the sink when I start washing his things - all of our dishes must be done and then i clean the sink itself before I start. I also use scalding hot water to wash his bowls and bottles.
I am crazy anal about the above so I think you are perfectly sane
I'm not crazy about other stuff (although his clothes is in a separate hamper and washed separately) but for some reason the thought of the yucky germs all over our kitchen sponge touching his things, ewwww!

Re: Do you use a different sponge for your baby's untensils & bowls?
Am I the only one who doesn't use a sponge?
I use a dish cloth that gets washed in hot water every few days with vinegar in the rinse. I do all the dishes together, I've never separated DD's stuff from our stuff.
I do have the bottle brush for sippies and DH's water bottle, and for my pans that on a rare occasion have gunk stuck on them I have a Dobie sponge.
