I rinse w/ my hands and then use the bottle brush.
ETA ds only eats baby food so after a rinse it's clean to the eye- and then gets the bottle brush.

Yup I do. I'm also thinking of getting a separate utensils to use for preparation - is that nutty?

I rarely use my sponge. Everything goes in the dishwasher. I only use a sponge to wash my knives that don't go that the dishwasher. My boys' stuff goes in the top of the dishwasher and our stuff goes in the bottom.
