Clinton vs Trump

I am not a Trump supporter but for all you who are so surprised. Brace yourself. He may very well be the next president of the United States and the way things are panning out could even be the first Republican to win New York in a LONG time. The silent majority is real thing and clearly they are fed up.

Look at some of the presidents that this country has elected in the past...Trump is noting compared to some of them so these poll numbers are not surprising at all.

It is absolutely astonishing to me that this poll is as close as it is right now.

Very scary!

Look -I'm not voting for the guy, but these are the type of comments that infuriate me.

What Trump supporter is going to come out and say they're voting for him when people on this thread make comments like that?

I think everyone should respect everyone's right to vote for who they choose without ridiculing them.

And if people are "astonished" at the poll, they are clearly out of touch with a large population in this country. Regardless of how you feel about the man (I personally disagree with him on nearly everything), he has a MASSIVE following. So it shouldn't be "astonishing" that its a nearly 50/50 split.

I respect people's right to vote for whoever they want but this is an open internet forum and people are free to express themselves as they wish.

I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that a site that is comprised nearly entirely of women has a large group of Trump voters. I know that he has large pockets of support, but I just didn't expect it here.

I don't think he will win a general election and I can't imagine he will win NY anyway.

I was going to say- how is anyone surprised at these results?
He obviously has a ton of support- look at how he pretty much blew all the other candidates running in the primaries with him out of the water. It's not at all surprising to me to see these results.

...yeah but going on strictly voter turnout in NY, Clinton had something like 500,000 more votes than Trump. So I don't know if his support is as massive as it seems. Who knows.

I absolutely cannot fathom how anyone could vote for Hillary, looking at everything she has done. There isn't enough time in the day for me to list them all -- but seeing how nasty it can get, I won't bother because it would fall on deaf ears. "you must have heard this on FOX" or some other garbage (hello -- MSN/CNN -- totally left)....

She absolutely disgusts me. Wouldn't surprise me if she won -- people voted for obama after all. Chat Icon

New York is a democratic state so I would expect more people to be voting in the democratic primary as opposed to the republican one.

I dont like Hillary but I plan to vote for her with my fingers covering my nose, only because I care about SCOTUS nominations. HRC is the lesser of 2 evils. There are as many as 3 potential open vacancies on the Supreme Court and if Trump gets elected, the balance of the Court could shift too much to the right.

Re: Clinton vs Trump

I put leaning to Clinton. I won't vote Trump, but I may write in a candidate or vote third party. I'm in PA now, though so I'll probably vote Clinton to be safe.

Two things:
1. I am not a fan of Hilary, but I agree that, as a woman, she is judged unfairly. When she was giving her speech, she was criticized for "yelling too much," etc. Ridiculous.

2. Trump is definitely a wild card, and a lot depends on how independents vote. But I think the most likely scenario is he will lose badly. First of all, there is a sizable amount of Republicans who won't vote for him (#NeverTrump people). I just don't think he'll get enough independents or crossover Democrats to combat that. That doesn't even account for the Republicans who are going to vote for Clinton, which is a sentence I never thought I'd type!

Honestly, this election cycle, anything could happen. I am not looking forward to 6 more months of the Donald Trump show.

Clinton vs Trump

No one will admit it but I will. No way in hell would I vote for Clinton.

She is a liar and everything to her is about $$$$$. Clintons left the white house with nothing and since then has made millions. She backs monsanto because she gets money from them. F that. Trump is looking like the next POTUS. He doesn't need the white house career to line his pockets. I like that.

I reaally really do not mean this to be snarky, but I feel like everyone who says they won't vote for Clinton say this kind of thing, without giving examples of what they mean. So, please, WHAT are all these things that she has done (or at least some of them), that makes you hate her so much? I have asked this question of more than one person and they always say something vague - no concrete examples. So, aside from the email controversy, what are some of the other reasons you have for hating her so much?

http://www.snopes.com/hillary-clinton-sat-monsanto-board/

There are no actual direct connections between Hillary and Monsanto, just Internet rumors.

As far as lying goes, Politifact lists Trump as lying (at least partially) most of the time
http://www.politifact.com/personalities/donald-trump/

and Hillary being truthful (at least partially) most of the time:
http://www.politifact.com/personalities/hillary-clinton/

ETA: Trump also owns Monsanto stock.

The email is all I need. Forget running, she should be indicted and barred from holding any political positions

But why should be bother with pesky facts?

Sadly many voters dislike Hillary because they can't stand strong women, a man can do it but when a woman does she is demonized.

Huge pet peeve of mine. Just like the earlier reference to Hillary's stance on "partial birth abortion". I wonder how polls (not just this one) would look if people read the actual facts.

Re: Clinton vs Trump

Very PROUD Trump Supporter here.

No way in hell would I want any vile person such as Hillary win this election.

Trump is no saint, and I know we can all agree on this, but honestly, if there wasn't so much Trump bashing on these boards, maybe we would be able to voice our opinion on why there is so much support for him without the attacks. And YES, there are plenty of those.

Every political thread on here is full of Trump hatred. As much as there is hatred for him, like it or not, Hillary is hated just as much. Its just not expressed as much on these boards. It should come as NO surprise, given the success Trump has had in the primaries so far that this race is as close as it is.

Whether you support Trump or Hillary, this race is close and it is going to get VERY interesting to see how this all plays out in the coming months.

Yes i think this is also a big reason people are voting for him- Trump is self-funding his own campaign so he doesn't have to answer to anyone... with all of these corrupt politician stories coming out lately, this may appeal to voters.

Another myth - that Trump is self-funding his campaign. He is LOANING money to his campaign and is paid back all of it by donations to his campaign. No money is coming out of his pocket to run this campaign and he is just as interested in big donations as any other candidate

But Trump is financially invested in Monsanto, and directly makes money off of their success. Clinton has no direct ties to Monsanto, so he is much more interested in continuing Monsanto's progress.
