Re: Centerpiece spin off
I didn't care what people thought I paid for things but several people (who were planning weddings at the time of our wedding) had guessed at the price of a few things and were blown away by the price I paid. I wasn't shy about telling them about my great vendors. I worked hard at finding the best value for my money and it paid off. It was a compliment to me that they had thought I paid more.

i posted pics a while back on LIW and some girls said it looked like it came from the dollar store.... very hurtful, but it was my style and i was happy in the end that i didnt spend much!!
I'm sure they looked great!
thanks i wasnt expecting such rude remarks..but then i forgot i was on a public forum soooo i just took it with a grain of salt .... but i was soooooooooo happy in the end when i got so many compliments on our wedding day!!

I think I caught a glimpse of your slideshow. White and red with holly? I like them!
I also see you had a Disney HM during MVMCP and used PhotoPass! AWESOME!

I loved the Osbourne lights, I loved The Candlelight processional, Holidays around the world, MVMCP, all the decor and music. OMG. Did I mention I LOVED it?

Not at all. I wanted everything to look elegant & it did. Some people did think I spent more on some things than I did, but it didn't matter to me. As long as everything looked nice, the $$ was irrelevant.

Not in the least bit. Guests had a good time, loved the food, and told me the wedding was very classy. That's all I wanted.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
Everyone knows I'm super budget conscious so if they took from my 1st wedding that things were "cheap", so be it. They were obviously there for a reason other than to celebrate my occassion.
I tried to make things nice for everyone (multiple favors, etc.) and I know that in the end I got the most bang for my buck.
For the 2nd wedding (maybe someday), I'll probably run the same route..I'm not all about the "show and tell" of the occassion; if I can get a bargain and keep things nice, so be it

Re: Centerpiece spin off
hmmm toughy. I spent probably... .$12 per centerpiece, but they looked like I spent $50... I guess.
My main priority was elegance, then I tried to figure out how to get an elegant look for cheap. I would not have wanted to spend $12 no matter what it looked like, thusly looking like a $12 CP. So I guess appearance mattered, but not in other people's opinion, since I basically bragged ot anyone who would listen that they were so innexpensive. Just that don't like cheap looking things- whether they actually do cost $12 or if you spend $150 on them.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
i was only concerned with it looking classy and original - i was not concerned if it looked expensive at all. i did not have floral centerpieces b/c that's not my style, and no one (that i know of) commented about them being "cheap" - although i would have just if anyone did.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
Honestly, I have no idea what I even spent on centerpieces. I just wanted things to look nice. I know what my total was for all flowers, that's it.
ETA: We used Flowers by Burton and absolutely loved them. Great prices, great flowers.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
My motto throughout wedding planning was "simple, but elegant". I didn't care what people thought I spent, I had a vision and I wanted to see it through without breaking the bank.
Now I hold that same ideology with our house!!

same here. However, my ILs (who paid for half the wedding) were EXTREMELY concerned about making sure everything looked expensive. they even wanted to use a well-known expensive florist just b/c that florist was known for being expensive (we didnt use them.)
To each his own, I guess.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
Regarding our guests, our 2 main priorities were great food and great music.
Our centerpieces were included in the package. That wasn't important to us, so if we had to get them on our own, we would not have spent a lot.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
Honestly, it never occured to me that people might be sizing up my centerpieces (or other aspects of my wedding) and trying to guess how much they cost.

Re: Centerpiece spin off
We ddin't care if anyone knew what we spent. We wanted things to look elegant & reflect us as a "couple" without the extreme of going over budget. Since DH & I paid for the wedding in its entirity ourselves, we watched every penny wisely.

To be honest, we didn't care what people thought that we spent on things. We just wanted things to look good, but not cost a small fortune.
Same here- but I spent much more than I should have anyway...and they didn't look as good as the (2nd- the first was terrible and he did a new one that was great) sample anyway- and I spent more on flowers for the church that were cheesy and pointless

Re: Centerpiece spin off
I never gave it any thought about what my guests may or may not have thought we paid for things. I had a vision in my head and went with it. I definitely wanted it to look elegant and fit the atmosphere where our wedding was held.
I tried to bring my DH with me to every vendor meeting because he's an awesome negotiater. I'm too nice and just accept their quotes without any haggling, so it was in my DH's best interest to be with me.

Oh, I didn't care what people thought I paid for anything. As long as I had what I wanted and loved, I wasn't thinking about what anyone else would think.
