Centerpiece spin off

WHen planning your wedding, did you care what people THOUGHT you paid for things?

I understand not wanting to look like you cheaped out on your friends, but was it important to you that things at least look expensive?

Re: Centerpiece spin off

I think for me it was more important to get my money's worth. So whether I was paying $50 per centerpiece or $250 (ours was in between!), I wanted to make sure that we got the most bang for the buck.

The florist we ended up going with did the CP we wanted with 3 times as many flowers as other florists had quoted us for, but for less money!

I didn't want anything to look cheap, of course, who would?

Re: Centerpiece spin off

No, I didn't care if my guests thought it looked expensive or not. *I* cared what the CPs looked like, for me. I was very particular about the look of them...since I wasn't going for the typical high or low CPs.

To be honest, we didn't care what people thought that we spent on things. We just wanted things to look good, but not cost a small fortune.

I did not care if it looked expensive per se. I did care if it looked like it was just thrown together though.

Re: Centerpiece spin off

On the toher thread I think the OP said she told ehr friend "People are going to think you only spent $40" In that case I think it's clear that $200 is a rip off, but if she loved those CP and could pay a good price, who cares if she only spent $40?

(I think the OP did mean that she shouldn't spend $200 on something that looks like $40...so I'm not knocking her at all, just brinigng up a discussion).

Not at all.

In fact, I was very honest (with the appropriate people) when I got a good deal. I was working with a budget since DH and I paid for most of it, and most people knew that (they just didn't know what the budget was)

In fact, a friend's mother called (her children got married at the Plaza Hotel and Tavern on the Green) me the day after my wedding to tell me how beautiful and elegant everything was. Had she not known we had a budget, she would have thought that price was no issue on anything. Everything was top scale.

Re: Centerpiece spin off

Not at all. Ours were included with the hall. We just had basic vase of red roses - nothing crazy. It was not something we wanted to spend $$$$ on and I thought the tables looked beautiful.

As much as I love pretty centerpieces - they die!

I do hate carnations though. I think of them as a "filler" flower rather than a regular flower.

I also don't care what other people paid for their centerpieces. I don't estimate what they paid unless specifically asked.

Re: Centerpiece spin off

I didn't care what anyone thought my centerpieces or anything else at my wedding cost. The only people I wanted to be happy were my husband and me. I made decisions based on that.

Look expensive? Not at all.

I wanted it to look elegant. I wanted everything to fit my theme, which was fall. I wanted it to fit into the way my hall looked.

Honestly, my dh and I are basically simple people. We wanted simple and elegant. So whatever we liked, we went with.

Re: Centerpiece spin off

Not so much that I wanted things to look expensive... I wanted it to look professional. My SIL and I made my invitations, menu's, escort cards, crystal tree, etc. and I didn't want people to look at it and think I recruited my 10 yr cousin to put it all together. With so many DIY's - that was my big concern
