I am so sorry for your loss....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I lost both of my parents before I turned 21 and I don't know where the strength came from to go through the entire mourning process.. But when I needed it it was there.. There are a lot of different groups avaliable... I became very spiritual and read and still do read a lot of books on spirituality, it has helped me alot.. As I was planning my wedding and now that I am having my baby I miss the both of them like crazy but I know they are looking down on me.. And with all my major difficulties with my pregnancy I know that they were close by (my angels) praying for everything to be okay...

Re: bereavement help

I lost both parents buy the time I was 30. I am now 34. One word... it STINKS. Not a day goes by that I do miss them It will get better over time, but it never goes away. My MIL just passed 3 weeks ago, and Dh is going thru this too. She had a massive stroke in her sleep at age 62. there are bereavment groups at the Plainview Y, it does not matter what religion you are to go to this group. I think my Dh is going to join it in March. Please feel free to Fm mail me. Many hugs to you.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon And my deepest sympathy.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am very sorry for your loss.

My sister passed away when I was young and my mom put me in a bereavement group through Good Sam Hospital. Maybe they still have something like that?Chat Icon

Re: bereavement help

Unfortunatley, I too have gone through this... I lost both my parents 6 months apart... yesterday was actually 3 years for my dad... I was 25 when my mom died, and 6months later I lost my dad... I am now 28 and like some of the other woman have said, the pain NEVER goes away but it does get a little easier to deal with. I went to a bereavement group run by the Hospice that my mom was in. I found that it really halped me a lot... I met another girl there that had just lost both her parents as well.. and for a long time, the two of us would call each other as support because its sometimes hard for our "significant" others to really "get" what we're going through or how we are changing from within. It was also a great outlet for me to get out my feelings and sorrow... I would leave there many nights in hysterics,... but I think that all helped me heal. I am soooo sorry for what you are going through, and I know how unfair it is. If you need to talk... please please please feel free to fm me! THAT GOES FOR ANYONE ON HERE!! We can only try to remember the good times and hold them dear to us.

I am so sorry. I DO know what you're going through. I lost my mom 3 1/2 years ago - when I was 23 and 9 months before my wedding. The best medicine is to talk it out with friends or a social worker of some sort. There are many resources available to you - maybe through the heart association? You'd be amazed how many support groups/resources exist.

I believe that one never gets over the loss of a parent - you can move on but it always stays with you; something is always missing. It makes you stronger and determined to live your life fully.

Best of luck to you - things will certainly get better.

Re: bereavement help

I don't know what to say....but I see all the love on this board, and if it's helps, you have people who you know, and those (like me) who you don't who will pray for you. I am truly sorry for you loss.
