Before you bought your house
Before you made a final decision on your house, did you bring family members or anyone to look at it? Did you want their opinions or did you not want to be influenced?

Well we had already put inour 1st offer and it got accepted then we took our parents by to see it. Well things turned sour in the deal and we had to start looking for another home. Once we found another one, we didnt want to show anyone until we really knew it was ours.

I did with the first house I put a bid on. When we didn't get that house I kinda thought I might have jinxed myself and so with this one, we didn't let anyone see it and we won't let anyone see it until after we close 
At this point, we're in contract so I really don't care what they think, I'm buying it

No, my parents like to stay out of mine and DH's big decisions... They dont overtsep their boundaries and dont try to influence us one way or another... so we showed them pics, but they never saw the house in person until we already moved in... same for our reception hall... they didnt see it until after we had already booked...

No, never would I do that. Family would need to know current prices, the market, etc, otherwise odds are they would say we were nuts. They would not have influenced us, we just didnt want to hear their opinions b/c they honestly didnt matter. We are paying for the house and we know what we want, and what things cost.

We brought my parents and my FIL for a preview. We appreciated their opinions. FIL is an electrician and my dad is extremely smart... all around.

no, we are very independent and make our own decisions without our parents opinions. we only showed them the mls listing after our offer was accepted.

We made an offer (but they knew we were going to, they looked at it online), and then during the home inspection, they came by to see the house.
DH and I were fairly educated buyers. I was an attorney at the time and DH works in banking. And we were both in our 30s when we bought. I don't know -- had their opinion differed from ours -- that it would have changed our minds, but I think it's always nice to have input from people you trust, no matter how knowledgeable or savvy you think you are. But our parents always give their input in a respectful manner, so I knew it wouldn't be a huge problem.

We brought my dad and his girlfriend to see the house after we had an accepted offer. our house was by far the best value for money at the time and very unique - we also didn't want to lose it. my dad came back a second time to do the termite inspection. DH's parents didn't see it until after we moved in. To this day we've kept it a secret that my dad saw it first. they would've given dh a very hard time if they found out.

My mom was with me when I saw our house the 1st time. We also showed my stepfather & FIL before putting in our offer.
We appreciated their input & better not to hear "i would have told you" if something ended up being wrong

My parents saw our current house and the house we're now buying before we went to contract.
I respect my parents' opinions, and they respect our decisions.
(and my father is an appraiser also, so I wanted his professional opinion as well)

our first house, yes...and thank goodness we did. We never owned a home before and didn't know anything about what we may need, what to look for, etc. The first house we put an offer on we brought them to the inspection and they pointed out things that would have made us regret our decision (not anything related to the inspection.)
our second and third house we brought them after the contracts were signed. My DH & I felt more comfortable making the decision on our own after owning already and learning from our previous experiences. We knew more about what we wanted and needed.

Our parents came and took a peak during inspection. They knew they really werent there for their opinions unless they were good ones, they were just there to see the house.

my mom came with us to look at the house, but i would have brought her back. my judgement was cloudy by how nice the house is, but i need a bias person to look at the structure and the important things.
