If you got married AND bought a house in the same year...
did you get a refund on your taxes or did you pay?

We paid, but there was big disparity between my compensation and DH's, so we had to make up for that.

We purchased in 2006, but the wedding is in 2007 - havent gone to the accountant yet to see how it works out.

We got a refund b/c DH was claiming single 0 and I was claiming single 3 (my accountant said we could could go higher since we had the house but I was a little nervous about doing that). Depending on what we get back this year I may change our withholdings. I don't like getting too large of a refund.

We bought our house in the summer of 2005 & got married in the early spring of 2006. We got money back last year but our accountant told us to expect more this year...DH also claims 3

we got a refund, we always had as singles and continue to.
I try to make sure its not much though, why should they have my money for a year

We married in '06, but bought in '07, so we'll declare the house in '08 taxes. Oh well!
I can still declare the interest on my student loans!
