My dad actually came with us when we 1st saw our house - I think we just invited him along that day. We sent my mom in as a "spy" LOL, during an open house they had. She didn't like the house but we still bought it.
We also had my dad be present at the inspection. My dad is so smart and knows quite a bit about construction, plumbing, you name it, so it was important to us that he be there since we don't know about that stuff.
I was glad to have my parents be a part of the process. They have always been an integral part of my life and I didn't see any reason not to include them in something as important as buying our 1st home. That being said, they only offered opinions and never tried to sway us one way or the other.

I brought my dad but that was because DH was on a 3 week business trip. I bought the house sight unseen to DH.

We brought my Uncle, just for his "professional" opinion since he is an engineer so he could point out anything structual ect. that we might miss.

My mom is coming with us to a revisit on Saturday. I like having opinions but in the end the decision is mine and DH's.

Both of our dads stopped by when we had the inspection, just because it was our first home purchase and we did want their opinion.

we bought oos so my dad actually saw the house before we did...he took video and photos and sent it to us...we bid on the house, the offer was accepted and we didn't step foot in it until the day before inspection!  luckily it all worked out....if my dad said the house was terrible it could have swayed our opinion on it...but he liked it, told us the condition of everything and let us what he could see as pros/cons of the property....but really we went with our gut....but another set of eyes is good sometimes to point out things you may not notice yourself...

Both time I brought my parents to see it. My mom is always good for pointing out things I may have missed. Sometimes the process is so emotional and if it has taken awhile you may be overlooking certain things you really wanted and an outside opinion can help point those things out.

Both of our parents when we were in contract. If they thought the house was ugly-we didn't care...it was our decision. BIL too just to do an inspection. Didn't care about his opinion either, just needed his professional "diagnosis" on the condition of the house.

We did bring both families....I...They wouldnt' sway me but I always think that some ppl may see something we don't and I like to hear all points!

Before we put our offer FIL came over and saw it with his electrician/contractor friend. They did a walk through and checked everything out for us first sine they knew what to look for.

We brought both sets of parents to houses we wanted, but never got.
With our house, we brought only my dad to it. But that was after we put an offer on it. My dad came to the inspection with us.
We did a drive by with my mom, but DH's parents saw it after we closed.
