Baby #3... my birth story
Well, I must say that the labor and delivery of this baby did not go exactly as planned...I had only about 5 hrs of labor with baby #2 and no drugs... I expected this one to be just as easy... boy was I wrong!
I started having contractions around 10pm on Sat. and they got progressively stronger and closer together.... I told my DH to go take a nap because he had been up since 5am and I knew he wasn't going to make it on such little sleep...I finished packing, put away the dishes and did some laundry...then when it started getting worse I sat in the bathtub for a little while which helped with the contractions a little bit... I woke my DH around 1:30am and told him to start getting ready and to call the Dr...at about 2am we headed to the hospital... at this point my contractions were about 3 minutes apart... we got to the hosp and they checked me... I was only 3-4 cm (I had been 7cm after only 3 hrs of labor with baby #2) so I was a little discouraged... I laid in bed for a little while with the monitors on and then decided I needed to walk.... problem was that I had the shakes and my legs wouldn't support me and I was very very nauseous and throwing up so I had to sit with a bucket...at about 6am they checked me again and I was only 6-7cm... so even though I swore I was going to do this naturally with no medication I couldn't take it any longer and asked for some nubain.... well, that didn't do a thing.. I waited another hour and still was at the same place.... I knew that with no sleep for 24 hrs that I was going to need some help... I asked for an epidural..AHHH relief... but as soon as he gave me the epidural I felt like I had to push... the nurse looked at me and said 'there's no way you need to push yet' believe me I DID! So I pushed (I have no idea how long for) and she wasn't moving and I had lost ALL energy... the Dr. gave me a 2nd degree episiotomy and had to use the vacuum to help get her out.... She was born at 7:50am and weighed 9lbs. (no wonder she wouldn't come out!)
We almost lost my DH during my pushing... all of the sudden he went pale and my Mom grabbed him by the collar then the nurses sat him down... with the lack of sleep and being hungry and overheating he almost passed out.. it was pretty funny!
She's absolutely perfect and her brother and sister are in love with her... Mallory is constantly checking on her and kissing her .. it is SOOO CUTE!

What a wild story too. I don't know what a second degree episiotomy is, but I don't think I want to know either!
