I've never heard the song that Scotty sang before, but I thought it was horrible.
Yeah, he sang it well, but he doesn't know the difference between Iraq and Iran? That's not something to broadcast... That's ignorance.

yes, that's being too literal. that song was released right after 9/11. it speaks about a simple man admitting that he doesn't know much but he knows right from wrong. IMO not nearly as ignorant as most of the pop music now

You're right, but I wish they wouldn't blow her head up like this...
thats exactly what i mean. its like they break her down just to raise her up so high again and prove her right. she needs to see she was wrong!!

I think the judges were too hard on her with the first song and she is very unique. None of the other contestants are as unique as her. My DH loves her, I think she's relying on the middleaged man vote now LOL, my husband watched religiously but would never vote.

She is just so unlikeable, her arrogance rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah, my DH says her looks are what have gotten her through.
Yes, she has an unbelievable and unique voice but as everyone knows, Idol isn't solely about that. You also have to know how to cater towards your voice and special qualities and I don't feel she does that. Her first song was terrible. It really was. She doesn't always pick the right songs or correct arrangements. She has been very inconsistent and I don't like her entertainment quality. Sure, I'd listen to a CD with her voice on it but I don't want to have to see her on TV or watch her perform or do an interview. And there have been other unique contestants on Idol in previous seasons. Just because you are unique doesn't mean you should win.

Well he didn't write the words to the song and overall I think he was great and the song was really nice. I'm sure the artist knows the difference between the 2 countries also but was trying to make a point that most people watch the news and probably can't tell you the difference between the 2 countries. He's not into politics but feels the greatest gift God gave us is love.

Ok I love Lady Gaga, but what the hell was that? And Haley has an amazing voice but she should have kept her mouth shut and just dealt with the criticism. But I will say Randy was a little overkill with saying first place is the other 3. Why not just say Haley, you need to deliver a big performance?

James..I didnt enjoy him tonight too much. Ive liked him from the beginning and I think he's really talented but tonight, he just didnt do anything that special. Throw in the fact that my man Constantine sings DOnt Stop Believing in ROA..NO COMPARISON. I am a little biased! LOL
Haley..I love this girls voice. I actually felt bad for her tonight. Randy came down HARD on her. Although I didnt care for her first song, she was the best of the night with her 2nd one. She has that raspy sound I just love!
Scotty...THIS IS WHO I WANT TO TAKE IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First song, one of my favorite songs ever. Makes me cry EVERY TIME. Second song, I admit, didnt care for..but he can perform. He has THE best voice and although I am not a country fanatic..I just love this kid. He reminds me of the guys I hung around with in HS, maybe thats why. I just love him and I truly want him to win.
Lauren..I thought she was gonna win from the beginning...but every week she is so back and forth for me. A last week, her crying was a huge sign that I dont think she would be able to handle being the idol. I dont know. Jordin Sparks was her age and she just handled everything so differently. Lauren is so babyish. Cant explain it.
Overall, didnt LOVE the show tonight..Gaga is gaga...expect nothing more or less from her and she makes me laugh. I loved the interaction between her and Scotty. Randy made me angry with Haley. Steven Tyler cut him off and actually got mad and I LOVED it.
THis year FLEW!

I think Hayleys voice is amazing but her attitude SUKS!!!!!!! I cannot believe how rude she was to the judges last night, if she can't take the criticism she should not be on a competitive show!!!!!!!

My guess for final 2 is James and Scotty. That's not my WISH, that's my GUESS...
James: LOVED that first song because either you can do it or you can't and he can, so it made me happy. (I haven't seen Constantine in ROA, although my boss just bought his wife tickets and I told him I wanted to go with them to see Constantine. ) I fell asleep during his second song so I can't comment.
Haley: I agree with what JLo said about her first song - her passion was there, she sang the heck out of it but it was the wrong song. But I thinks he talked herself off the show. DAMMIT. Because she's better than Lauren, she's got an AMAZING voice and if you didn't hear it when she sang that second song, then I don't know what you were listening to.. She definitely showed Randy where the top of her range was. When they asked who the best of round 1 was and all they could come up with was who the worst was -- that was harsh I think.
Lauren: I've liked her so much throughout but I wasn't into either of her performances last night and I thought that dress was just too much.
Scotty: He KILLED that first song (in a good way). I've heard it before and I actually don't like the original version at all. The whole "where were you" bit gets to me because of where I was, I guess. However, Scotty did a GREAT job with it. And do I need to mention (again) that I'm SO NOT a country fan?
What I really enjoyed was Scotty and Lady Gaga interacting. Are there any two people on earth who are more opposite?

I hope Hayley goes home tonight. Finally, someone called her out on always screaming in her songs. Thank you Randy.
I'd really like to see Lauren, James and Scotty advance to next week so that we can see how each hometown reacts to their return.
As for final 2...ideally, I would like it to be Lauren and Scotty but if its Lauren and James, I am happy with that. Actually, any combo of those three works for me!
My personal fave singer is Lauren. If she wins, great. If not...life goes on.

I agree this is like an anti-Haley thread. She's AMAZING and it pis ses me off that the judges always go after her. She got upset up there but that was because they just kept repeating the same thing and well when the judges critic someone that is usually the person to go home! So I get why she would get upset. I thought both of her songs were great and she didn't deserve the critisicm they gave her.
Scotty sang that 9-11 song that I just can't stand- the guy who originally sang it capitalized off the horrible events of that day and made a ton of money. I thought he second song was cheesy. But I do like Scotty- he'll be sooo successul after this even if he doesn't win. I think he'll be in the finals.
I never liked James, he's so fake. He did good with the journey song but I'm just not a fan- ugh.
Lauren did good on the first, not so great the second.
It's going to be tough- I really hope Haley stays!!!

James - not sure what the judges were hearing in his first performance but DH & I didn't think it was as good as they were making it out to be.
His 2nd performance was better - but I hate that song. He will DEF be one of the finalist.
Haley - what a brat. She sounded terrible in her first performance. The judges were trying to give feedback and all she could do was stand there rolling her eyes and talking back.
I will give her the 2nd song - she hit it out of the ball park with that number. She can sing her asss off but watching her makes me want to 
Lauren - I have been a fan since day one. However, I definately don't know if she is ready for this. It is so obvious that she holds back. Especially after last week performance where she flubbed the biggest note of the song she performed. I feel like she did it again in her first performance...
Scotty - My favorite!!! I love love love him. I love his innocence, the way he sings, the obvious fact that he LOVES to perform. I liked his first song choice better than the 2nd. He will be the 2nd finalist IMO at the end.
James and Scotty at the end are my guesses...either could take it.
