Re: talk to me about clomid
I was put on clomid when I met with a RE. I would just make sure you are being monitored on it because you don't know how you could respond to it.

Also, make sure your husband has had had an SA first.

Re: talk to me about clomid
Its how I got my BFP this September. I'm 36...hubby is 40. His analysis was perfectly fine, but I (for no known reason) have low estrogen and didn't ovulate at all since I was in my late 20's. No other physical or hormonal issues. 50mg of clomid (the lowest dose and what most RE's will start you on) worked like a charm for me....my body just needed that little push to do its thing. 3rd month on clomid was the charm. A couple friends of mine said it made them really emotional/moody - kinda like bad PMS. But, I didn't have any psychological side effects like that. Just made me feel a little bloated/full (it is stimulating the ovaries more so than your body would do naturally during that time of the month) and I broke out with some lovely chin-acne.....all worth it though. Nugget is 6 weeks 5 days today

Re: talk to me about clomid
My ob wanted to give me clomid with basic blood monitoring once a month. I went ahead and went to a RE on my own and decided clomid wasn't the best route for me. My ob didn't even mention the higher risk of multiples, possible cysts, over stimulation. I would say go for it if you're being monitored and have all the info :) I chose femara in the end.

Re: talk to me about clomid
This has been my first month taking clomid; I actually took my last pill last night. I found out after 10 months of ttc that my progesterone was low. My doctor is monitoring me so I go back on day 21 for bloodwork. I had really bad hot flashes and a little crankiness but that's about it.

Please please do not do this with your OB. Any fertility treatments will need monitoring and your OB's office is not set up to do this. That is unless they are going to have you come in frequently and be open weekends if you are going to do an IUI.
Also, SA and an HSG at the very minimum should be done before hand.
