PLEASE CONFIM THAT MY DH IS BEING RIDICULOUS
i discovered he put the thermostat up to 70 degrees in the upstairs area.
yeah, I noticed now and haven't been upstairs all day long.
he does it so the room is nice and toasty when he gets out of the shower.
he is a fcking princess.
please confirm that this is insanity and no one ever puts a room up to 70!!
he won't believe me, and i figure if he sees it here, he will believe it.

my husband doesn't put the heat that high, but my inlaws need the heat at 72 if not higher. it is too hot.

Maybe he's worried about shrinkage  . Sorry, I could not resist.
In any event, mine never goes above 68 even on days that are below zero.

When we are home during the day it's up to 70 and then turned down to 66 about an hour before the kids go to bed and then down to 64 when we go to bed. It goes on at 70 about an hour before DH gets up to get ready for work.
But our heating system is really old and only 1 zone (although we have a new programmable thermostat) and the room the thermostat is in is the coldest room in the house, so we have to turn it up so that room gets to about 68. The bedrooms get really warm, about 74. I have to turn the ceiling fans on in the kids room for a while before they go to bed so isn't so hot in there. It's annoying, we really need to have more zones added.

Our heat is usually around 71...doesn't strike me as insane. last night I put it up to 73 to keep DDs room warm.

really??? i felt like I was roasting! it was so hot you could practically TASTE IT. I wonder if there is a difference in heating systems? Plus, I am generally hot, so that could be why, too.

We put it over 70 when the kids are getting baths BUT that's because we also have old heating with one zone and upstairs in consistently at least 5 degrees colder.

We have an old heating system, with one zone, and it's at 70 when we're home at night. The thermostat is in a warmer part of the house, so the rest of the house is still chilly when it reads 70!

There has to be. My heat at 70 is farking COLD! That is what it is set to during the day while we aren't home. But sometimes I come home and have to bump it to 72 since I am soooo cold! I have an old house, but our heating and CAC is brand new (less than 4 years old). I think our thermostat needs to be re-calibrated though.... because 70 shouldn't be cold in our house! We do sleep with it down to 68 and that's I-can-see-your-breath crisp!

not crazy. Ours is on 72 all day. My mil says to me that most people wear layers in their house instead of raising the heat. DH and I are usually in tshirts so I guess I could probably lower it a little.

Sorry, our heat is at 70 or even 72 when we're home. Which, because DH works from home, is five days a week!
I am also known to pre-warm the bathroom a few minutes before I take a shower. My father kept the heat very low in our house growing up and I hated it so now we have it the way we like it.
Disclaimer: our house is less than 1000 square feet so keeping the heat like that is not crazy expensive.

I don't get that. Why would you rather wear layers than be warm.
Maybe that is why so many people get sick when it gets colder out.

I put my heat at 68 during the day. But this is the limit for me.
I like 70-71 in my house in general.
But I $suck it up to save energy a bit since I stay home most of the week. So it's set at 68. Except upstairs. It's at 65 because it's a spare room, playroom/computer room. Unless I am on the computer I don't go upstairs.
At night, the temp is set at 70. I like being nice and toasty while sleeping. DS' room gets really cold so I have to keep the temp at 70 so it's not freezing in his bedroom.
