Now I know I live out in east but this is ridiculous!
Browsing thru my local Parks and Rec. page for somethings for the kids I find:
HOW TO IDENTIFY ROAD KILL
with Dr. Sidney G. Raffe
Participants in this course will travel the local roads of Southold during the evening hours and identify the various road kill they come across. Materials needed include gloves, a shovel, flashlight, face mask, protective goggles, heavy duty garbage bags, and a small garbage can. Once we identify the deceased animal, we will cover various aspects such as its habitat, eating habits, general behavior, cruelty to animals, therapeutic uses of animals, animals in research, education, medicine, agriculture, attitudes toward animals conveyed by schools, religious institutions and other socializing agencies, representations of animals in literature, the history of the domestication of animals, the animal rights movement, etc.
Please follow all traffic laws while walking or driving. If you stop to identify the road kill, find a location where you can pull safely and completely off the road. Watch for traffic!!! Always wear bright and/or reflective clothing, such as neon red or bright yellow vests, hats, etc. Have fun and be careful! If you can’t tell by now, we’re just having some fun to see if you are paying attention. Be one of the first five people to contact the recreation department and you will be eligible to sign up for one of our programs in this brochure at half price, some restrictions apply. Sorry, Southold Town employees are not eligible.

WEDNESDAYS, 7:00 - 8:30 P.M.
COST: $45.00/person

1. Why would someone take this class?
2. Who would take this class?
3. Why in the world are Southold Town employees are not eligible?
