IMO, due to the high cost and limitations (as others have mentioned), and especially since you have to take off the seat to get it in the car (too time consuming for me), it is in no way worth it for a suburban mom like myself. City moms have different needs though. Several city moms that I know who have it, now use their lightweight Maclaren with a toddler.

You don't have to take off the seat with the bugaboo bee. It's also a few hundred less... :D

At $900, she is not talking about the bee. She is most likely talking about the frog or similar with the pram/bassinet. Which you have to take it apart to put in your car.

Re: Bugaboo Strollers - Are they worth the $$$?
Don't spend the 900, spend 700 on the Gecko. That's 200 less!
I love mine. Worth every dime.
At 19 months, we still go on our daily walks with it.
Or look on craigslist...some of them are new in the box for 5-600.
If you are a walker, then this is def the stroller to get.
IMHO, people spend too much money on nurseries...put some towards a great stroller and you won't regret it. There is such a difference between bugs and gracos or pegs...

Re: Bugaboo Strollers - Are they worth the $$$?
Everyone I know that has one said it is the best. For me, I would never spend that much money on a stroller. I was very happy with my Chicco Travel System and now my Maclaren Triumph.
It is really nice looking though

Re: Bugaboo Strollers - Are they worth the $$$?
They don't make a double so its not even an option for me. I thought almost $400 for the stroller I am registering for was a lot - there is no way I would spend $900 on a stroller, or ask anyone else to. If they made a double it would be over $1000 .

Janice, I would agree with you on this. I suppose in my eyes, nursery furniture for me would be a waste of money, I bought a cheap crib, an ikea dresser and a cheapo glider. So spending that much money on a stoller wasn't a stretch for me. There is a HUGE difference between a bug and all others on the market imo. And once you are finished with yours, you can sell it on ebay for probably about half of what you paid for it.

I would never spend so much money on a stroller, especially as a surburban mom. Not only do I think its crazy $$ I hope to have #2 relatively close to my first so it wouldn't make sense for my needs.

I agree. I live in NYC and have a frog. While I love it when we're in the city, I curse the darn thing when we go to LI and are getting in and out of the car for this reason. We got a Maclaren Quest for that and absolutely love it. We use it when we go out to dinenr in the city too because it's so much smaller.

To be honest wtih you we tested ones that you didn't have to take the seat off and the folding to them was much more bulky and took longer than just taking the seat off the bugaboo..the Camelon is the 900 dollar one, and its the largest of the bunch, and thats the one we got, and yes if you don't have a big trunk i can see how it can get to be an issue, but the taking off the seat part literally takes not even a second, compared to some others that folded with the seat on and took more time....so to be honest I don't look at that as a limitation by any stretch of the imagination.. I do agree the price is a bit obscene, and as for the post of not using this when the baby gets bigger, most of my friends have normal to large size babies and have never complained, come to think of it some of my friends that have other strollers had to get upgraded strollers for when the babies got bigger...we're not talking 12 months here, we're talking further down the line...

I agree in the sense that we have a one bedroom apt in the city and will be there until the baby is a year, maybe 1 1/2....so we won't be spending money on a "nursery" for them. We'll get the crib, sure, and a dresser/changing table, but that's it. No glider, no armoire, we just don't have the room, as it is, the crib and dresser will be put into a corner of the dining room that we'll somehow section off to make some semblance of a sep. room. So I figure all the money that would be spent on nursery decor we'll be putting towards a quality stroller that meets our city lifestyle needs and so far, these bugaboos seem to be the way to go.

Re: Bugaboo Strollers - Are they worth the $$$?
I figure that whatever stroller you pick has to be the right stroller for YOU...not for anyone else. We picked a pricey stroller (not a Bugaboo) called the Orbit and although some people think it's crazy to spend the money, for me personally, I don't.
I'm not saying that there aren't great/fabulous strollers out there for less money...I'm sure there are, but this is the one I like and to me personally, it's worth it.
My Mom offered to buy it for us, but we told her that this is something we wanted to buy for ourselves as we know it's a lot of $$ and she already bought our nursery furniture. I wouldn't ask anyone to spend that kind of money on us for a stroller...this one is one us

My situation exactly! We have a small office type room that we will use for DD, but it is way too small to put anything in there besides the crib and MAYBE a glider. I plan on buying 2 expensive baby items--the stroller and crib. Together they will cost about 2K, but they suit out need very well. The crib is designed for small nurseries and the bugaboo is designed for an urban mommy like me!
