Re: Repost from Pregnancy: Those with Bugaboo Strollers!!

Right. Here is a good subject for me to answer.

As you all know, I have a bug and for me, it was totally worth the money. I live in an urban-ish area (like Queens) and I walk everywhere. So when I was on maternity leave, I used it everyday, probably walking up to a mile or two every day. It was fantastic. BUT, once I went back to work and my son got older, it was a lot less practical, and when Noah turned 1, we got a Maclaren Techno, which I absolutely love. The Bugaboo is not a pram that you are going to use for running errands in the car, while putting it together is not difficult, it is in 2 pieces and it is more time consuming than folding down a one piece stroller. Also, I have noticed that bigger children, over the age of 18 months do not fit particularly well into it. The seat is quite small......

My friend made a bet with me that within a year I would be driving a Maclaren...and yes, she was right.

I am now learning towards saying that if it fits your lifestyle, it is a fantastic investment. You could buy a used one for a good price if you don't want to fork out the money for a brand new one. Or, if you want a brand new one and don't want to use it past 18 months, they hold their value really well and you can sell them on when you are finished with them. I am now thinking of selling mine on and when I have my second, going with a Phil and Teds.

Sorry to all of you that I semi-changed my tune...but shizzle happens!!! But for our family, it was invaluable for the first year!!!

love mine. but I use it everyday. I walk all over, grocery store, strolls, errands. We take it on trails in the mountains.

Would I buy it for mall trips and as something that stays in my trunk? no way. My cousin is expecting, I advised her not to get it. She works long hours, always on the go...she thought I just did not want her biting off me, so not true.

My life is boring. Walking and strolling is what we do. Its going to yosemite with us this summer and was great for my last 2 trips to the city.

It drives like a dream, super quiet, turns on a dime...is a b!tch that it doesn't fold down...but I ususally keep it in Josh's room ready to go.

Re: Repost from Pregnancy: Those with Bugaboo Strollers!!

You ladies answered my question.

I'm not much of a walker. Even though I live in Brooklyn, I pretty much drive everywhere (hey, I'm a LI girl). So now I'm thinking it wouldn't be worth the money for ME.

I work in DUMBO (under the Brooklyn Bridge), which has crazy amounts of cobblestone streets. No joke, every mom has a Bug, and I can see why.

I think I'll get a Peg.

Thanks for your help. Chat Icon

We have one but we bought it used from a mom on the UES. With all the accessories and everything...so it was definitely worth the money!

It's the best for long walks or tooling around the mall, town, trails, etc. It's like the SUV of strollers, you can get over anything with it.

It's not the best if you have to climb stairs with it daily or for traveling, etc. We'll probably get a Maclaren umbrella stroller for traveling. I traveled with DD by myself last time and I had to bring the Baby Bjorn with too since I needed two hands to assemble the Bugaboo.

Bugaboo is coming out with a new one piece stroller this September. So that may be totally worth the money.
